Tanuki Curry House Reviews
This curry is seriously amazing, the flavor is so rich and complex. The spice level is perfect, with just enough kick to keep things interesting. The ingredients are obviously high quality, you can tell they put a lot of care into it. I especially love the way the vegetables are cooked, they're tender but not mushy. Honestly, this is some of the best curry I've ever had.
Mar 30, 2025 · Mista MaxxIf you like Japanese curry you gotta check out Tanuki Curry House. I was delighted to find that their food was fresh and excellent and the atmosphere was enchanting. The place is decorated with a ton of Miyazaki type art and the staff is super nice! I got two orders of curry and two Sapporos which I heavily enjoyed. I’ll probably come back when I’m in the mood for Japanese curry again.
Mar 17, 2025 · Thomas Mao (ThirdSixty)We came here about two weeks after they opened and it seems to still be a soft launch as the space was still being organized, it seems that the staff is still going thru some training and other details like the QR to pay not working bc theres no phone service in the area but they don’t have wifi handy. I’ll come back when they have finished setting up the place and there’s more attention to detail.I agree with others Pork & Chicken katsu was cooked very well but the curry was just okay. The curry noodles seemed to be a little watered down. The lumpia dipping sauce was a mix of curry and sweet & sour sauce. I was hoping this could be a place nearby comparable to the curry houses of little Tokyo. Everything was good but I expected a little more. I’ll come back tho!
Mar 31, 2025 · Agatha IsabelVery welcoming staff and nice decorations. The food tastes great. We have had the miso eggplant appetizer (must try), the soy chicken karaage, grilled chicken curry and the pork katsu curry. The rice bowls are amazing too with umami/bacon flavors. Long Beach needed a place like this and this one does not disappoint at all so I hope it stays for a long time. I just wish there was a spice level option to make it spicier or a menchi curry option but I love this place all the same.
Mar 20, 2025 · Christopher EnglishFirst time I went here since the old Kashiwa restaurant closed. The curry spice level was right for my palate, but my elderly mother said it was too spicy for her taste. Suggestion to have spice levels to be adjusted beforehand similar to other Japanese curry places so kids and elderly can have milder levels, or have some honey or yogurt in stock to make curry more "amakuchi"?
