Temakase Hand Roll Bar - 28th St offers specific value-driven options that serve as their primary promotions, making their high-quality handrolls more accessible to New Yorkers:
- Hand Roll Sets: The various handroll sets, such as the "HANGRY set" (6 handrolls), "Hungry" (4 rolls for $26), and "I could eat" (3 rolls for $20), inherently offer a better value than ordering individual handrolls. These sets allow customers to enjoy a curated selection of their premium offerings at a more attractive price point. Notably, one review highlights a "lunch special before 4pm where you could get 3 hand rolls and a crispy rice starter for $20," which is an excellent deal for a quick and satisfying meal.
- Tip Included Pricing: A significant "promotion" in itself is their pricing model where the "tip is included." This transparency means the price you see is essentially the final price, which can be a relief for budget-conscious diners and makes the overall cost feel more "cheap" or affordable despite the high quality.

Temakase Hand Roll Bar - 28th St Reviews
This is Absolutely The best handroll bar in New York. I have dined at three others and this surpasses them all.If you’re searching for the ultimate handroll experience in the city, look no further than Temakase. I had the pleasure of ordering the HANGRY set (6 hand rolls) and chose the space option on the right side, which felt more spicy — perfect for truly savoring every bite. Each handroll was crafted with care and absolutely packed with flavor. The Scallop with chili butter aioli was divine, while the Blue Crab with truffle and spicy aioli was rich, luxurious, and totally addictive. The Salmon handroll, paired with spicy aioli and kimchi crumbs, had the perfect kick, and the Tuna with spicy mayo and tempura crumbs offered a satisfying crunch. The Toro was melt-in-your-mouth tender with a perfect hint of wasabi soy, and the Hamachi — marinated in garlic soy with a touch of togarashi chili powder — was an unforgettable, bold finish.Every roll was fresh, thoughtfully seasoned, and beautifully presented. You could truly taste the quality of the ingredients. The service was attentive yet gave me space to enjoy the meal at my own pace, and the energy of the space was vibrant but not overwhelming. Also, they are generous with fish !
Apr 28, 2025 · Aleksandra DackoGreat place to grab lunch. It is quick, easy and seamless. They have great hand roll options. Some of my favorites were the sweet chili rock shrimp and spicy tuna. Perfect place for a nearby work break, or something outing into town. It’s located in a great neighborhood with lots to do and check out. Manager was super friendly and went around to ask how the meal is. It’s cheap and tip is included in the pricing! Will definitely be back soon just a matter of when!
May 08, 2025 · Caring Supervised VisitsWe randomly walked in on a chilly day in the city. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. We got the 3 rolls and salmon on fried rice. Our server , whose name we cannot remember, but starts with a K and wears glasses was amazing. Not only did our food come out quickly, when we asked for one of our hand rolls to go, he offered to make a fresh one. The host at the front was very friendly and had a great attitude! Will definitely be back! Wish we could tip our server 😭
