The environment of Teriyaki House is affectionately described by customers as a "hole in the wall mom and pop teriyaki food place." This characterization immediately evokes a sense of authenticity, unpretentiousness, and a focus on the food rather than elaborate decor. Such establishments often possess a unique charm and provide a genuine local experience that larger chain restaurants cannot replicate. While it may not be a grand dining hall, the emphasis is on a comfortable and familiar atmosphere where the owners personally interact with customers. This type of humble setting can be particularly appealing to those seeking a no-frills, focus-on-flavor meal. For someone finishing an appointment and looking for a relaxed, straightforward meal without excessive formality, this environment is ideal.
In terms of services, Teriyaki House operates with a personal touch, as evidenced by the direct involvement of "both owners" in greeting customers and preparing meals. This hands-on approach contributes to a warm and welcoming service experience. Customers are "greeted by an elderly gentleman who quickly took my order and started preparing my meal," highlighting efficiency despite the owners being "older." The recommendation to "order ahead of time" suggests that while freshness is paramount, patience is sometimes required, indicating that food is "made fresh to order" rather than being pre-cooked. This dedication to fresh preparation is a significant aspect of their service. The promptness in taking orders and starting preparation ensures that even with a potentially longer cook time due to fresh preparation, the initial steps of the service are efficient. The personal interaction with the owners adds a unique and memorable dimension to the dining experience, fostering a sense of community and support for a local business.
The features of Teriyaki House are primarily centered around the exceptional quality and generous portions of its Japanese comfort food. Reviewers consistently praise the "delicious" taste of the dishes. Specific mentions include "chicken teriyaki and stir fried vegetables with rice," with the stir-fry being described as "very flavorful." The "spicy teriyaki" also received high commendation, noted for having "just the right amount of kick, with a delicious umami mixed with the subtle sweetness from the teriyaki that really came together with some onion and carrots." A recurring and highly positive feature is that the restaurant "doesn't skimp on portions." This translates to "great portions" that are "worth it" despite a price point of around $27 for a meal. The emphasis on "fresh" ingredients is a cornerstone of their offering, with customers feeling "good and rejuvenated that only that good fresh food can do" after their meal. This highlights not just the taste, but the wholesome and satisfying nature of the food. The "mom and pop" shop aspect itself is a feature, appealing to those who prefer to support local, family-run businesses over larger corporations.
Regarding promotional information, while Teriyaki House may not offer traditional promotional deals like discount coupons, its most powerful form of promotion comes through overwhelming word-of-mouth recommendations. The reviews explicitly state, "If being a local guide means anything, then I have to recommend this place," and "Absolutely check this place out, it is fully worth your visit, and entirely worth your money." The sentiment of finding a "refreshing respite that left me feeling good while supporting a local mom & pop shop" is a strong form of endorsement that encourages others to visit. The value proposition of "great portions" for a reasonable price is also a significant draw, acting as a built-in promotion that emphasizes the quantity and quality received for the cost. The emphasis on "fresh" food that "left me feeling good and rejuvenated" also serves as a subtle health-related promotion, appealing to those seeking wholesome meal options.
To provide an objective introduction, it's notable that the provided customer reviews for Teriyaki House are entirely positive, with no negative feedback or areas for improvement mentioned. The only point that could be interpreted as requiring consideration is the polite suggestion to "be patient w/ the owners as they are older so it takes them a little longer," but even this is framed as a minor point, with the explicit reassurance that "the food is worth the wait." This overwhelmingly positive consensus across food quality, portion sizes, service, and the unique charm of the establishment paints a very favorable picture. The consistent praise for freshness, taste, and the feeling of rejuvenation after a meal further solidifies its standing as a highly recommended local eatery.
In conclusion, Teriyaki House in Federal Way, WA, is a highly cherished "mom and pop" Japanese restaurant that offers a truly authentic and satisfying dining experience. Its appeal lies in its "hole in the wall" charm, warm personal service from the dedicated owners, and, most importantly, its consistently delicious and generously portioned fresh food, including highly recommended chicken teriyaki and spicy teriyaki. For users of "Doctor Near Me" in the Federal Way area seeking a genuine, wholesome, and value-for-money local meal, Teriyaki House stands out as an absolute must-visit. Despite a potentially longer wait due to fresh preparation, the unparalleled taste and the good feeling derived from supporting a local business make it "entirely worth your money."

Delicious! To put it into words, I ordered chicken teriyaki and stir fried vegetables with rice. I ordered ahead of time (which I would suggest to do), when I arrived both owners greeted me and were finishing up the stir fry dish (very flavorful). In total I paid about $27 and some change but got great portions so I’d say it’s worth it. I will say though please be patient w/ the owners as they are older so it takes them a little longer but the food is worth the wait.
Feb 28, 2025 · Eden JeffersonIf being a local guide means anything, then I have to recommend this place. It's a hole in the wall mom and pop teriyaki food place that doesn't skimp on portions, and tastes delicious.I was greeted by an elderly gentleman who quickly took my order and started preparing my meal. Everything was made fresh to order, and it tasted like it. I got the spicy teriyaki, and I'll definitely be getting it again. It was just the right amount of kick, with a delicious umami mixed with the subtle sweetness from the teriyaki that really came together with some onion and carrots. Overall the meal left me feeling full and satisfied, and most of all it left me feeling good and rejuvenated that only that good fresh food can do.Absolutely check this place out, it is fully worth your visit, and entirely worth your money. In a world full of greasy expensive food, this was a refreshing respite that left me feeling good while supporting a local mom & pop shop. Please check this place out.
Jun 18, 2024 · Izzy BlepA hole in the wall, owned and serviced by a cute little Asian couple, who puts their health first with their DiY table barrier (don’t disrespect their space). The food was delicious filled with tons of flavor and more than enough to satisfy your appetite. Only togo orders but everything was so quick that we only waited 10 minutes for them to put together 3 dishes. I definitely will go back for some more of their spicy chicken teriyaki.

May 21, 2025 · Karyl BennettThis place is great for a quick stop in when I don't want to make dinner or I'm too busy, they have a great teriyaki sauce and the gyoza are delicious! The owners are very Covid conscious and they take many measures to ensure as little handoff contact as possible, usually supplying a box to prevent the bag full of your dinner from touching their counter. I really appreciate this (and all their measures) as a person with a compromised immune system it is a huge plus to know they are thinking about transmission of disease not just in the food but in the delivery of it.Happy to say they are keeping it up nigh on a year later!
