The Blue Fish Allen stands out in the competitive Texas dining scene due to several notable features and customer favorites:
The "Reverse Happy Hour": A significant highlight, particularly for evening diners, is their "reverse happy hour" menu. This special offering, available at the bar, provides "a lot of delicious food for a good price" and great deals on drinks, making it a popular choice for a lively night out.
The Blue Fish Tower: This signature dish is frequently praised as "awesome," providing a substantial and delicious experience. Customers can often choose between salmon or tuna for this impressive tower, which features tartare, snow crab mix, avocado, sushi rice, and caviar.
Exceptional Fried Calamari: The fried calamari receives high commendation, with one customer stating it was "so great we ordered another round," indicating its deliciousness and popularity.
Quality Drinks and Attentive Bartenders: The bar service is consistently rated highly, with "spot on" drinks and "attentive" bartenders who contribute to a pleasant experience. The $10 "you call it" well drinks, like strawberry margaritas, are particularly appreciated.
Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the restaurant, including the restrooms, is noted by patrons, contributing to a comfortable and hygienic dining environment.
Diverse Menu for Various Tastes: Beyond popular rolls, the menu offers a wide array of Japanese and some Korean-influenced dishes, including sashimi, poke bowls, and main entrees like Wagyu beef and Korean BBQ, catering to a broad spectrum of preferences.
Lively Atmosphere in Watters Creek: Being part of Watters Creek means the restaurant benefits from a vibrant and appealing setting, making it an attractive destination for dining and socializing.
While some patrons have noted issues with consistency in rolling certain sushi rolls (e.g., California roll falling apart) or found some items "overpriced for what you get" outside of happy hour specials, the overall sentiment points to a largely positive experience, especially when taking advantage of their bar specials.
The Blue Fish Allen is known for its enticing "reverse happy hour" which provides excellent value, especially at the bar.
Reverse Happy Hour: This highly popular promotion is available at the bar on Friday nights (and likely other evenings), offering discounted food items and drinks. It's a great opportunity to enjoy their delicious offerings at a more budget-friendly price point.
Daily Happy Hour: According to publicly available information, The Blue Fish locations often feature Happy Hour "EVERY DAY from 3 - 6:30 pm at our downstairs bar," with potential discounts on specialty cocktails, wine, and tap beer, alongside a specific bar food menu.
It is important for Texans planning a visit to note that happy hour food specials are generally restricted to the bar area. If you are dining with children or prefer a table, it's advisable to confirm if any specific happy hour food specials apply to the dining room, as this policy can vary. Always check their official website or call directly for the most current and specific details on all available promotions.

Also tried the fried calamari, and it was so great we ordered another round. The ten dollar you call it well drinks were great: we tried strawberry margaritas.Bar tender was attentive, spot on with drinks and our food order.Everything was absolutely great.Restroom was clean. No military discount.Overall, excellent place in Watters Creek. Apr 13, 2025 · Chantry GilbertAs much as I come to Watters Creek, this was my first time trying Blue Fish. This seemed like a family friendly restaurant. I saw online they had a happy hour on some food so after my son was done playing at the playground, we came to eat here. We sat on the patio and the girl said happy hour is only at the bar but clearly I had my child so we couldn't sit there. I asked if they would honor food happy hour and they wouldn't or else they would have to for everyone. Why not just make happy hour on patio also for people who can't sit at bar? Not very considerate. I've been to others that were happy to honor it. For food, I tried the california roll and that was ok. It was not rolled right and kept falling apart. I also tried the Philadelphia roll and it was ok. Overpriced for what you get.

Nov 11, 2024 · Jerry Kezhaya4.8 experience here. Food, service and atmosphere was great. Good selection of drinks, but would like to see a few more unique cocktails.Waygu beef was great, Fire Shrimp app was amazing and the sushi is as good as it gets. Spicy chicken was ok, little bland probably add a little salt wouldve brought out the flavors.
Sep 01, 2024 · Adam CrainBeautiful location to grab a nice sushi lunch or dinner. Floor to ceiling glass allows plenty of light and views of the nearby green space and park. Parking was easy to come by on a weekday lunch visit, but may likely differ in the evenings or on weekends.Lunch specials included many bento boxes that were a great deal for the money considering the quality of the food and the portions. Great service as well. The spring rolls here were especially good, consider them for an appetizer.Solid spot for Japanese if you’re considering options in the area.
