Tokyo Fast Food prides itself on offering a wide array of Japanese comfort food, prepared fresh and served efficiently. Their services cater to both dine-in guests and those looking for a quick and easy meal to enjoy elsewhere.
- Dine-In Service: The restaurant offers a "decent amount of seating" and a "very cozy and comfortable ambiance," making it suitable for dining in, even if you're not in a large group.
- Extensive Menu of Japanese Staples: Their menu is surprisingly comprehensive for a "fast food" establishment. It includes popular items like various teriyaki plates (Chicken, Beef, Salmon, Fish), combination plates, donburi bowls, katsu curry (chicken and pork), a selection of sushi (including California and Spicy Tuna rolls), tempura, and noodle dishes (Udon, Soba, Ramen, Yakisoba). They also offer appetizers like gyoza, edamame, and karaage.
- Combo Plates: A popular offering, their combo plates allow diners to enjoy a variety of dishes, such as the Chicken and Beef Teriyaki combo, often including steamed rice, blanched bean sprouts, and sliced oranges, all at a reasonable price point.
- Freshly Made to Order: Despite the "fast food" moniker, a key service highlight is that they "make their plates fresh, hot and on the spot." This ensures quality and flavor in every dish.
- Takeout and Delivery: Tokyo Fast Food is well-equipped for takeout orders, with many customers noted to be picking up. They also partner with popular delivery platforms like DoorDash and Uber Eats for added convenience.
- Friendly and Cordial Service: Customers consistently praise the owner and staff for their "very cordial" and attentive service, even bringing orders to tables for dine-in guests.
- Catering Options: While details require direct inquiry, their website mentions offering "several special sushi and appetizer's party platters," suggesting catering services for special occasions.
Tokyo Fast Food stands out in the bustling West LA food scene due to several key features that contribute to its consistent popularity and positive reviews:
- Authentic Japanese Food at Unbeatable Prices: This is perhaps the most celebrated feature. Customers repeatedly highlight the "authentic Japanese food" and the "unbeatable price," making it a go-to for budget-conscious diners seeking genuine flavors. A combo plate can be "below $14 including tip," a rare find in Los Angeles.
- Perfectly Grilled, Tender Chicken Teriyaki: The Chicken Teriyaki is a particular standout, described as "perfectly grilled, glazed, tender and the sauce was not too salty unlike other chain restaurants." This attention to detail in a staple dish is highly appreciated.
- Flavorful Beef Teriyaki: While one review noted the beef's texture could be more tender, it's still praised for being "thinly sliced and coated with the same teriyaki glaze," offering a complementary option to the chicken.
- Well-Seasoned Sides: Even the accompaniments receive praise, with the blanched bean sprouts noted as "just right and perfectly seasoned in sesame oil," showing care in every component of the meal.
- Speedy Service: Living up to its "Fast Food" name, orders are often ready "within 5 minutes," making it an ideal choice for a quick and satisfying meal, especially during a busy day.
- Cozy and Comfortable Ambiance: Despite its quick service nature, the restaurant offers a "very cozy and comfortable" dining environment, with a "homey vibe" that encourages a relaxed meal.
- Diverse Menu for Various Cravings: Beyond teriyaki, the extensive menu means you can try "sushi, tempura and other teriyaki dishes," ensuring variety and appealing to different tastes for repeat visits. Customers rave about dishes like Katsu Curry and Unagi Bowl.
- Consistent Quality: Patrons who have been coming for years confirm that the "food is ALWAYS fantastic" and that they take "great care in the presentation of their food," highlighting a consistent commitment to quality.
Tokyo Fast Food, known for its already "unbeatable prices" and excellent value, primarily focuses on maintaining its affordable pricing structure for its wide range of fresh, made-to-order dishes. This commitment to everyday value acts as a continuous "special" for its loyal customer base in Los Angeles. While specific, rotating "daily specials" like those at some higher-end establishments are not explicitly mentioned in reviews, their expansive menu with varied combo plates and bowls inherently offers diverse and economical options. The fact that a "combo plate with steamed rice, sliced oranges and blanched bean sprouts" can be "below $14 including tip" is a significant ongoing value proposition in the Los Angeles market. For any potential new offerings or seasonal menu additions, locals are encouraged to check their official website or inquire directly at the restaurant, as their menu is robust and always fresh.

Tokyo Fast Food Reviews
I came here for dinner on a Saturday evening after 6:30pm. It wasn't too busy, but I noticed there were customers picking up their orders. There's a decent amount of seating (as long as you're not in a large group), so I decided to dine in. The ambiance is very cozy and comfortable.I ordered a combo plate of Chicken Teriyaki and Beef Teriyaki. It was reasonably cheap (below $14 including tip) for a combo plate with steamed rice, sliced oranges and blanched bean sprouts. Within 5 minutes, my order was ready. The owner was very cordial that she brought my order to my table. The Chicken Teriyaki was perfectly grilled, glazed, tender and the sauce was not too salty unlike other chain restaurants. The beef was thinly sliced and coated with the same teriyaki glaze. However, the beef's texture was fragile that it could have been more tender and meatier. The bean sprouts were just right and perfectly seasoned in sesame oil. Tokyo Fast Food is a great spot for quick authentic Japanese food fixings. I'll definitely return to try their sushi, tempura and other teriyaki dishes. They make their plates fresh, hot and on the spot in the Westside!
Jan 26, 2025 · Gene AlejoAuthentic Japanese food and the price is also unbeatable. I love the homey vibes too
Apr 20, 2025 · Kunihiro SandaI have had wonderful meals here since 1990 during my University high school days. To date this is my go to spot for fast friendly home cooked Japanese meals at an honest price. I eat here 2-3 times a week and it has never disappointed. Yes we have a lot of options like Nobu or other high priced sushi spots which are great for social media posting but for simple down to earth meals they wont disappoint. A bit of advise you can substitute for Brown rice, skinless chicken, or ask for it well done.
