Ton Shou Premium Katsu & Izakaya Introduce
For residents of Nevada with a discerning taste for authentic Japanese cuisine, particularly those in the vibrant city of Las Vegas, Ton Shou Premium Katsu & Izakaya stands out as a must-visit destination. This establishment elevates the beloved Japanese dish of katsu – a perfectly breaded and deep-fried cutlet, typically pork – to a premium level, offering an experience that goes beyond the ordinary. But Ton Shou is more than just a katsu house; it also operates as an Izakaya, providing a selection of Japanese small plates and beverages, especially during its "After Dark" hours.
What sets Ton Shou apart is its commitment to delivering a top-notch culinary experience while maintaining an accessible price point. Diners consistently praise the quality of their katsu, highlighting its tenderness and the meticulous preparation that goes into each dish. Beyond the main event, Ton Shou pays attention to every detail, from its unique Kama-style rice cooked in individual pots to the rich Tonjiru soup that accompanies their katsu sets. It's a place where traditional Japanese comfort food meets premium execution, creating a satisfying and memorable meal for anyone seeking genuine flavors in the heart of Las Vegas.
Ton Shou Premium Katsu & Izakaya is conveniently located at 4049 Spring Mountain Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89102, USA. This address places it squarely within Las Vegas's famous Spring Mountain Road, an area affectionately known as Chinatown. This bustling district is a culinary melting pot, renowned for its diverse array of authentic Asian restaurants, specialty shops, and vibrant atmosphere.
The location offers excellent accessibility for locals throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Spring Mountain Road is a well-trafficked east-west corridor, easily reachable from various parts of the city. For those driving, the plaza where Ton Shou is located generally provides parking, though like many popular spots in Chinatown, it can become busy during peak dining hours. Its proximity to major thoroughfares ensures that whether you're coming from the Strip, a residential neighborhood, or another part of the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area, reaching Ton Shou is relatively straightforward. The restaurant's presence in this culinary hub makes it a convenient and attractive choice for anyone in Nevada craving high-quality Japanese katsu and Izakaya fare.
Ton Shou Premium Katsu & Izakaya offers a specialized menu primarily centered around their signature katsu, along with a selection of other Japanese dishes and beverages.
- Premium Katsu Entrees: The highlight of their menu is the variety of katsu options, all served as a set that includes cabbage salad, Tonjiru soup (a hearty miso soup with pork and vegetables, a notable upgrade from regular miso soup), and made-to-order kettle-cooked rice. Popular katsu choices include:
- Hire Katsu: Pork tenderloin cutlet, known for its lean tenderness.
- Rosu Katsu: Pork loin cutlet, often praised for its balanced texture.
- Ebi Katsu: Tiger shrimp cutlet.
- Tori Katsu: Chicken breast cutlet.
- Cheese Tonkatsu: Mozzarella-stuffed rosu katsu (limited availability).
- Ton Shou Special: A combination platter featuring Rosu katsu, Hire katsu, and Ebi katsu.
- Kamameshi Bowls: They also offer "Kamameshi Bowls," which include their special kettle-cooked rice with various toppings, alongside cabbage salad and Tonjiru soup. Options include Unagi Meshi (soy-braised freshwater eel), Katsu (Rosu katsu with egg, onion, scallions, and katsudon sauce), and Gyu Meshi (thinly sliced beef simmered with onions).
- Japanese Sandos: Featuring their freshly baked green tea milk bread, Ton Shou offers various katsu sandos, including Tonkatsu Sando, Ebi Katsu Sando, Tori Katsu Sando, and Menchi Katsu Sando (minced pork & onion cutlet). Each comes with egg salad, cabbage, and sauces.
- Izakaya "After Dark" Menu: Beyond the katsu, Ton Shou transitions to an Izakaya concept in the evenings (starting 6 PM until 12 AM), offering a wider range of small plates suitable for sharing, alongside Japanese sake, beer, and wine. Examples include Scallop Cream Croquette, Crispy Shrimp Lollipops, Chicken Karaage, Oyster Cream Croquette, Tuna Tartare, and their Ton Shou Salad.
- Delivery and Takeout: For convenience, their menu items are available for delivery through popular platforms like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub. Takeout orders are also welcomed.
Ton Shou Premium Katsu & Izakaya is recognized for several distinct features and highlights that make it a compelling dining choice in Las Vegas:
- "Premium" Katsu Quality: The restaurant lives up to its "Premium" designation by focusing on high-quality katsu. While preferences for leanness or fattiness vary, the pork cutlets are noted for being tender, roasted before being breaded and fried, offering a refined texture. They aim to surpass other Tonkatsu places in Las Vegas, a claim supported by customer reviews.
- Exceptional Set Inclusions: A significant highlight is what comes with each katsu set. Instead of typical plain rice, diners receive "Kama style rice," which is made-to-order and kettle-cooked, served in individual pots, contributing to a unique experience. Furthermore, the inclusion of flavorful "Tonjiru" (a hearty miso soup with pork and vegetables) instead of standard miso soup, and a distinct salad dressing, elevates the entire meal.
- Unique Kama Style Rice: The kettle-cooked rice served in individual pots is a standout feature. While some minor inconsistencies in doneness have been noted (as with any freshly cooked rice), the intention is to provide a superior rice experience, a hallmark of authentic Japanese dining. Kama-meshi, or "kettle rice," is a traditional Japanese rice dish cooked in an iron pot, known for its rich flavor from being cooked with broth and other ingredients.
- Diverse Menu Beyond Katsu: While katsu is the specialty, Ton Shou offers an impressive range of other Japanese dishes. The Sando menu, with fresh green tea milk bread, provides a lighter yet equally flavorful option. The "Kamameshi Bowls" offer a different take on hearty rice dishes.
- Izakaya "After Dark" Experience: The transition to an Izakaya in the evenings broadens its appeal, offering a more varied selection of small plates and a different ambiance, allowing for a more social and relaxed dining experience with sake, beer, and wine. This caters to both quick meal-seekers and those looking to linger.
- Good Value for Premium Quality: Despite the "premium" quality and meticulous preparation, customers often highlight the reasonable pricing, making it a great value for the high-end experience provided.
- Attentive Service: Positive feedback frequently mentions good and friendly service, which enhances the overall dining experience.
- Authentic Japanese Ambiance: While some deep-frying smell is noted (common for katsu restaurants with open kitchens), the focus on traditional preparation and unique accompaniments contributes to an authentic Japanese feel.
While direct, specific promotions might vary, Ton Shou Premium Katsu & Izakaya, like many local businesses, may offer various incentives. Given its presence on popular delivery platforms, locals might find:
- Delivery Platform Deals: Keep an eye on Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub for potential promotions such as free delivery, discounts on minimum orders, or special meal bundles. These are frequently updated by the platforms themselves.
- Loyalty Programs: Some restaurants implement loyalty programs for frequent diners, which might include points accumulation or special discounts after a certain number of visits. It's worth inquiring about this directly.
- Seasonal or Limited-Time Menu Items: While not a discount, the introduction of new or seasonal katsu or Izakaya items can serve as a draw, offering a fresh experience for returning customers.
- "After Dark" Specials: The Izakaya portion of their business (starting at 6 PM) might feature happy hour-style specials on drinks or specific small plates, encouraging evening visits.
To ensure you have the most up-to-date information on any current promotions or special offers, it is always recommended to check Ton Shou's official website (if available), their listings on food delivery apps, or to call them directly.

Ton Shou Premium Katsu & Izakaya Reviews
It is very difficult for me to write this review because it is not really fair in a way. I am used to the quality pork in the Tonkatsu when I lived in Japan, not the tasteless pork in the US where the flavors were all bread out of the pigs. The pork here was roasted and then breaded, deep fried, and they were very tender. You basically can't go wrong with any of the cuts but the pork has absolutely no flavor because they are too lean. If there is no flavor in the pork itself, you will need to get the flavor from the fat, which is missing on the tenderloins. Personally I would prefer a Tonkatsu with more chew and a bit fatter, at least there is more flavor, otherwise you are just chewing on a large chunk of tender meat with no taste, so you will need to rely on the sauce. The other things is, they serve the rice in individual pots cooked separately, ours were under cooked, too wet. There is allot of deep frying going on so the entire place smell like grease, unfortunately there's not much you can do with an open kitchen. Good service though and good prices.
May 22, 2025 · D “Juanito” HI see why their name includes “premium” because it is. It’s top notch but with inexpensive pricing which I truly appreciate. This surpassed all other TON KATSU places in Las Vegas with every little thing that’s included in a set, from the Kama style rice, TON JILU (instead of regular miso soup), to even the salad dressing. Truly amazing!
Apr 27, 2025 · TomokoOfficialGreat place to try authentic Katsu Curries and other Katsu appetizers. They also have great skewers options. Some of the must try items are the "Crispy Shrimp Lollipop", "Ebi Katsu - Tiger Shrimp Katsu" and "Menchi Katsu". We wanted to try the Cheese Tonkatsu but they were out of it, but I would recommend that as well. I would definitely visit this place again.
May 21, 2025 · Tanmay DattaStopped by on a Friday night. Service was ok. Nothing stood out to warrant a shout-out to the server. I think the paintings on the wall were nice.Food:Pork Cheek SkewerSpicy Tuna Hand RollRib Eye Beef Sukiyaki with UdonEbi Katsu with Rice and SoupFirst, the skewer was good. Chewy on some pieces but overall good flavor. The tuna handrail was equally delicious. The Ebi was HUGE. The batter is good, but I've had better up the street. I enjoyed my Sukiyaki. The broth is not as sweet as other spots I've had, which is good. The meat was tender, and I enjoyed slurping the udon and soup. Can't wait to stop by and try another dish.
Mar 11, 2025 · Nette RabThis is a hidden jem. The sushi is fresh and filling. Here are some shots of the dishes.*Haven't ordered one of those soup pots.
