TONCHIN BROOKLYN Reviews
This was a spur-of-the-moment find. We went on a holiday mid-afternoon so it was not crowded at all. The noodle was firm and wavy just how I like it. The soup was not salty like most ramen. The decor is modern and classy, the service was also good. We sat at the table chatting for a while after having paid and nobody bothered us which was very nice and much appreciated.
May 28, 2025 · Cindy LThis ramen spot hits the mark. The broth is super flavorful. The gyoza is some of the best I’ve had, they were crispy outside and juicy inside. Service was quick and friendly. Great place to enjoy a solid bowl of ramen.
May 24, 2025 · Joshua DyerTheir classic tonkotsu ramen was a little disappointing after reading great reviews. The broth was very salty and didn't have much deep savory pork flavor. The chashu slices were thin and didn't taste like the ones I've tried elsewhere; it felt more like cured sandwich meat.I also got the Kimchi Mushroom, which was okay but came in a very small portion and the mushroom texture was weird - it was crunchy and cold. The interior and vibe were very nice and perfect for a date, but I'm probably not going to return.
May 25, 2025 · Stephanie ParkReally really good food. We came on a rainy windy spring day and it hit the cozy we needed. The set up inside is almost like a diner, so it feels social. The waiters were helpful and attentive. I recommend the cheese chicken wings, the Tokyo tonkatsu ramen, and the kimchi mushrooms. The old fashioned was one the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced. I do wish they could have substituted the egg with another topping.
Mar 17, 2025 · Willa OdefeyI came by on a Very Cold Thursday night with two friends, perfect for a warm bowl of ramen. We had a res for 7pm and it was really packed when we got there; fortunately, we didn't have to wait to get seated, so definitely make a reservation in advance!I ordered the classic Tokyo tonkotsu ramen, which was really delicious. The broth was fragrant and rich without being too salty, and the noodles were cooked wonderfully (very authentically chewy). The slices of chashu were tender and savoury. The various other ingredients (bamboo, seaweed, etc.) all fit together really nicely for the overall dish.My friends both ordered the spicy tan tan ramen which was great too!For dessert we had the matcha kaki gori to share. Portion size was decent (I think a good amount to share for ~4 people). It was really sweet, and while I do like matcha, even for me it was a bit overpowering at times. Not sure I was a big fan of how sugary this was, but I think it was a nice contrast to the heavier/saltier broths from earlier. All in all, a very lovely meal and price point, while certainly on the higher side, wasn't too crazy. I haven't been to Tonchin for years (and only the Manhattan location before), so I'm glad it is just as tasty as I remember :)
