Exceptional Cocktail & Japanese Whisky Program: A standout feature is the extensive and sophisticated beverage menu. Uchibā boasts a vast selection of Japanese whiskies, unique handcrafted cocktails, and a curated list of sake, wine, and beer, designed to perfectly complement the food.
Inventive and Diverse Menu: Under the umbrella of James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole's culinary vision, Uchibā offers a menu that goes beyond typical sushi. Highlights include a variety of hot and cool tastings, bao buns (like Hot Fried Chicken Bun and Pork Belly Bao), and a dedicated yakitori grill with options like Wagyu Beef and Chicken Thigh skewers. The menu allows for a broad exploration of Japanese flavors.
High-Quality Sushi and Sashimi: Despite a diverse menu, sushi and sashimi remain central. Attentive and Knowledgeable Service: Many patrons praise the incredibly attentive and helpful service staff, including servers and sushi chefs. Their willingness to answer questions and provide recommendations significantly enhances the dining experience, especially for those navigating the extensive menu.
Daily Happy Hour: The daily "Social Hour" (Happy Hour) from 5-6:30 PM offers an excellent opportunity to sample a delicious spread of food and refreshing cocktails at discounted prices, making the high-end experience more accessible.
Sophisticated Interior Design: The restaurant's ambiance, though described by some as dimly lit, is part of its sophisticated, intimate concept. The decor typically features sleek lines, warm lighting, and natural materials, creating a modern yet inviting space.
Part of the Uchi Family: Being a sister restaurant to Uchi, it carries the reputation of one of the most celebrated Japanese restaurant groups in Texas and beyond, ensuring a baseline of culinary excellence and innovation.
Uchibā Dallas offers specific promotions that cater to its clientele, primarily centered around its daily happy hour, which provides an excellent opportunity to experience their high-quality offerings at a more accessible price point.
Daily Happy Hour (Social Hour): This is the most consistent and popular promotion at Uchibā Dallas. It runs every day from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. During this time, guests can enjoy a curated selection of discounted food items and beverages. The happy hour menu typically includes:
Discounted Bites: A delicious spread of smaller plates, including various nigiri pieces (often including scallop, salmon, and tuna), makimono rolls (e.g., Tuna Maki, Zero Sen), bao buns (like Hot Fried Chicken Bun), and other hot and cool tastings (such as Hama Chili). These are usually priced significantly lower than their regular menu counterparts.
Drink Specials: Special pricing on a selection of beverages, which may include specific cocktails (e.g., gin cocktails), sake, house wines by the glass (like Sauvignon Blanc), and Japanese beers.
Chef's Tasting Menus (Omakase/Somakase): While not a discount, the tasting menus (Omakase, Somakase, and Vegetarian Tasting) offer a curated, multi-course experience at a set price, which can often represent good value for the breadth and quality of dishes presented compared to ordering individual, higher-end items.
Special Events or Collaboration Menus: Occasionally, Uchibā or the broader Uchi Restaurants group might host special culinary events, chef collaborations, or holiday-specific menus that could be considered promotional, offering unique dishes or experiences for a limited time. It is advisable to check their official website or social media channels for announcements regarding such events.

Uchibā Dallas Reviews
We had THE most amazing dinner at Uchiba last night. My friend and I joked that there are moments in time where your life is different before that moment and after that moment… and this dinner was one of those moments. We ate at the sushi bar. Our server was incredibly attentive and both the server and sushi chef were very helpful as we had quite a few questions. We enjoyed their daily happy hour (5-6:30) and had a delicious spread of food from nigiri to bao buns to A5 and salmon hand rolls. The Sauvignon Blanc was perfect. My friend had the happy hour gin cocktail ($10) that was incredibly refreshing. Everything we ate was exceptional, but our absolute favorite was the scallop nigiri. We will definitely be back again!
Apr 06, 2025 · Hunter RiningerUchibā is a high-end sushi restaurant, and while I haven’t yet visited the Austin location (though it’s been on my list for a while), I had the chance to check out the Dallas spot by coincidence. The first thing you notice is how dark it is. Not just dimly lit—so dark that it’s difficult to read the menu, let alone fully appreciate the presentation of the food. When you step outside afterward, even on a mildly bright day, the contrast is almost blinding. I assume this is part of the concept, but personally, I don’t find it particularly appealing. Now, onto the food itself. The fish, like in many central states, lacks depth of flavor. I don’t know if this is due to extended shipping times from the coast, but ideally, a sushi restaurant of this caliber should serve fish that was sourced and prepared within the last 24 hours. At this price point and level of positioning, the expectation is that they go the extra mile to ensure freshness. I understand this is a challenge for inland cities, but it’s one that high-end sushi places need to overcome if they want to compete with coastal counterparts. That being said, the experience was still enjoyable overall, and the sushi was decent, but for what they charge, the quality should be much higher. The ambiance and service are on point, but the food itself needs to deliver more to justify the price.
Mar 02, 2025 · Dmitriy MykaloCraved sushi so thought I come by here for HH. Ordered the signature tasting for $90 HH pricing for 2 people. The best was the Atlantic salmon, brussel sprouts, and the Hama chili. I would honestly recommend the sushi. The warm, hot dishes were mediocre.
Apr 18, 2025 · Aslee VongphakdyI ordered different foods and everything I tried was very good. The bartender made me a really good drink. I didn’t love the service upon arriving, I reserved a sushi bar seat and was asked to sit elsewhere on a corner of the bar. As I was waiting to be seated no one brought me a menu but brought one to the party next to me who sat down after me. The waitress once I was seated was solid and made great recommendations.
Apr 08, 2025 · Aurora DavidHad an amazing happy hour with tasty bites and drinks to compliment each other. The bartender was so nice and gave us a free beer to try!The wagyu skewers and hot fried chicken bao bun were my favorite!
