Uchiko Austin Reviews
My husband and I went to Uchiko to celebrate our 15th anniversary and were excited to enjoy some high-quality sushi. We sat at the sushi bar, which we usually love because it gives us a front-row seat to the chefs and usually leads to great service. The sushi was excellent—especially the dry-aged king salmon and the Otoro. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Our drink server was also fantastic.Unfortunately, the food service at the bar was disappointing. The sushi chef behind the bar lacked customer service and engagement, which really took away from the experience. This was the first time I’ve sat at a sushi bar and felt like the service missed the mark.Great food, but the overall experience didn’t live up to expectations.
May 25, 2025 · Hannah PanyasiriAll dishes were of amazing quality, presentation, and flavor. Atmosphere was refined yet warm and welcoming, noise level complemented conversation and wasn't too loud. Tyler was an amazing server - personable, knowledgeable about food and beverages, and just overall delightful to talk to. My dining companion had allergies that were honored and every person that ran an item to our table explained the dish and made sure to confirm it was allergy safe. I loved some of the new things I tried but I specifically came for the baby romaine salad with edamame and jalapeño dressing, and milk and cereal dessert, I was so happy to know it was still on the menu. I loved the Wagyu hot rock- it melts in your mouth. Every time I come to Austin I dine here. I mentioned to Tyler I had recovered from some food allergies/dietary restrictions and I was so excited to try the whole menu and enjoy cooking at home again. He brought me the Uchi cookbook to take home, which really made our night special and highlighted the amazing service. Multiple other people came to the table to clear our plates/maintain the table and were friendly without being intrusive. I have been in the hospitality industry for almost 2 decades and have worked with 5 Japanese fusion concepts. I know what effort and attention to detail it takes to create a great tasting menu and give unique experiences AND make it seem effortless. I'll be back next time I'm in Austin! - Leah
Apr 11, 2025 · leslie Guldenzoph10-stars! 🌟 Consistently the BEST. The sushi is next-level, and I am so happy they’ve expanded veggie offerings as well - every dish is perfection. Super service at the bar last night, and I love the updates they seem to have made to bar stools, restrooms, etc. Highest recommendation 🌟🌟🌟🌟
