---When it comes to choosing Umami Ramen, the quality and flavor of the food are the most compelling reasons to visit. While one customer with a rare MSG intolerance had a bad reaction to the broth, this is a personal issue and not a reflection of the restaurant's quality. In fact, the very same customer praised the "deep umami flavor" of the black garlic tonkotsu, calling it "slurp-luscious." This speaks to the depth and richness of the broth, which is a common highlight in customer reviews. The "Spicy Tonkotsu" is also a fan favorite, praised for its rich, spicy broth and tender pork chashu.
The menu's variety is another strong reason to choose Umami Ramen. For those who aren't in the mood for soup, the "Umami's Garlic Noodles" and the "Mazeman" offer a unique and delicious alternative. The inclusion of rice bowls like the "Katsu Curry Rice" and "Chashu Don" provides a comforting and satisfying meal. The sushi menu, while smaller, is also praised for its freshness and "next level" quality, especially during special events like the tuna carving.
Finally, the overall experience makes Umami Ramen a top choice in Folsom. The combination of high-quality food, fast service, and a unique, fun-filled atmosphere creates a dining experience that is both enjoyable and unforgettable. Whether you are a local or just passing through, Umami Ramen is a must-try for anyone seeking an authentic and delightful Japanese meal.

Umami Ramen Reviews
I dropped in on a lazy weekend just before noon. Umami Ramen in Folsom, CA. I have not been back here in a while. .Right when I stepped in, I noticed the interior setup changed quite a bit. The kitschiness of the anime, trinkets, Japanese snack food, claw game machine, and toy collectible baubles for purchase is abundant. Visual sensory overload. All of that was not here the last time I dined here. I had to take a quick glance around to make sure I was in the right place. Yup, I was in Umami Ramen. After I weaved past folks gawking at the snacks and stuff, I made it to the self ordering kiosks. There was no human person taking orders, so I used the kiosk. I would have preferred the human interaction to ask questions. I had to read the kiosk board a few times regarding the ramen topping options, it is mark options it if you do not want it versus want it.After I ordered my food and took my table number sign, I meandered around gawking at all their merch. Neat stuff that I want and of course do not need. Besides the items near the front door, they have more merch on the back wall near the restroom. Plus they have snacks on the merch shelf, Japanese ice cream in the cooler by the front door, and a cold case of Japanese sodas and juices. My order of black garlic tonkatsu ramen took a little bit over 20 minutes after ordering. The big, piping hot bowl was set in front of me. It looked gorgeous, picture perfect. The egg was cooked with the yolk having a nice, classic jammy consistency and served cold in the hot broth as it should be. The pork slices were seared, that added more flavor to it. The broth was more flavorful than I remembered. Deep umami flavor. Yum. Slurp-luscious. But it hit me hard a few hours later. I have MSG food intolerance. I found out later the broth had MSG. I got a migraine and tummy ache. My issue, not theirs. I can handle MSG in small quantities. I am in that statistical 1% of the population having MSG intolerance. Lucky me. So if I eat significant amounts, I get a migraine and other not so fun symptoms depending on the quantity consumed. I did not have this problem before eating here. But it is not uncommon for ramen places to use MSG.
June 01 · LillianBesides a good bowl of Ramen.I came here this time to witness and be part of an experience like no other. I can’t believe they invited two master sushi Chefs to demonstrate the highly sought after giant tuna carving experience. Being able to take part at this private dinner party was not only an experience of a life time but being able to watch these chefs break down a giant bluefin and served it to us fresh was Magical. I never had sushi so fresh, and every bite was next level. Best sushi ever! Thank you Umami Ramen for hosting such an Amazing experience. And the two Master Chefs, Andy and Hiro, you guys are a force to be reckoned with! I don’t think I can eat sushi the same way again 😬 I can’t wait for you guys to come back and do it again. Definitely will be back for round two!**see my IG for full video on this event**Follow @Only1ChristineLu for more great foodie events and spots to check out.
June 23 · C LuReally liked my spicy tonkastu. Liked it better than the black garlic. The chasu has great flavor. Also, the pepper chicken kaarage was GREAT. Delicious and light batter. Spicy mayo is great too. Fast service. Can order on kiosks. Plenty of parking. Also they have thin noodles!!
April 13 · Elyse ChingFirst time here. Straight forward ramen dishes. Also if you collect trinkets and figurines, they have them for sale here.Come early or There is usually a line im told. But with such good Ramen, i can see why.
March 23 · Paul Hickey-RamseyIt was my first time here and all I can say is wow! The flavors were so good! The presentation was really nice. The service was good. Not one complaint. This is my new Ramen/Soup spot for sure! Just a tad on the pricey side for noodles and soup but for it to be so good and have a nice evening here it’s worth paying that. Definitely recommend it to friends!
