Umi Reviews
From the appetizers to the entree dish, everything is excellent. The fish is fresh and tender with a lot of flavor. We ordered Wagyu steak medium rare which is juicy and melted right into your mouth. I would say it’s expensive to dine in here but it’s worth it.
Apr 06, 2025 · Tran VivianOne of the BEST dining experiences I have had in a long time. My husband and I went last night for our 2nd anniversary and everything from the ambiance, service, food was AMAZING. Our server Coy / Koi (sorry if misspelled) was absolutely amazing and made great recommendations to us. He was incredibly attentive and made sure we got all of our food and drinks in a timely manner. We started with the Rock Shrimp Tempura, Cucumber & Seaweed Salad, and Yellowtail Appetizer. This was our first time trying yellowtail and it did not disappoint. The salad was also INSANE - so refreshing and bright! For mains, we had the Lobster Tempura Roll, New Age Roll (hubby’s fave), and Surf & Turf Roll (my fave). We finished with the “Donut Touch my Donut” and Matcha Icecream. The donut had a nice chewy / mochi-like bite with a crispy exterior. Cannot express enough how great everything was - totally worth every penny!
May 21, 2025 · Maya BolesProbably the best place in Atlanta but doesn't really compare to New York, LA, Seattle, etc. some of the more creative tissues were a little hit and miss, some a bit salty, but A+ for trying some interesting ideas. Most of the dishes were generous for two people, really optimized for four persons.Pretty good sake selection and a very good wine list.Went on a very lively evening, good crowd, mix of young, older, and family. Service was excellent.
Mar 11, 2025 · Edward JungWent to Umi for our anniversary, amazed to say that atmosphere was dark and ominous. Bit on the smaller side, but just makes your date or with friends more intimate and enjoyable. Food was outstanding, drinks were amazing. Fabulous way to end the night and celebrate our 6yrs!
Jan 09, 2025 · Alexis SommersDecent. Been 7 years since we've dined here. Very nice date spot, and atmosphere is very trendy and moody. But they put sugar on their scallop tataki and chutoro starters. At that point, it's just overpowering and ruins the taste of the seafood. Many dishes are accented with Serrano pepper slices, which makes an interesting taste but wish they would diversify. The specialty nigiri fall into two overall categories: seared or non-seared. If it's non-seared, you can probably expect a topping of caviar. But caviar is a strong taste and just blends all the various clfish choices to be honest. If you have to choose, get the hamachi caviar or seared yellowtail nigiri. As far as sushi rolls.. we thought the typhoon roll was good. But the spiciness can be overpowering for the overall flavors. The futomaki roll was unfortunately not made that well, with the seaweed falling apart, unraveling the roll. It's okay, we were able to just squeeze it back together.Cocktail wise, the momo no ki was great with it's tea infused whiskey. Kyodai was like a Japanese spin on margarita, but would probably skip next time.Perhaps another time we might try the more traditional nigiri rolls. I thought the seared speciality nigiri was a standout, so do recommend that.Id come back, but I think places like Eight Sushi Lounge and Fudo are now higher than Umi. Though, Umi stands out in its atmosphere, and perfect for special occasions.
