Yoshitomo Reviews
Surprisingly amazing sushi/Japanese restaurant. Incredibly unique offerings you'll not find anywhere else, fish all tasted fresh and our server was truly amazing, maybe the best service I've ever had.We tried a number of items on the menu and every one was a treat. Cozy and friendly atmosphere and while prices were high they were not out of line with the quality of the food.I know it sounds ridiculous to say some of the best sushi I've had was in Omaha, Nebraska but it's true. I eat a lot of sushi all over the country and I would put Yoshitomo on par with any place I've been.If you enjoy Japanese food at all, you owe it to yourself to give this place a try.
Apr 16, 2025 · Aram LecisDining at Yoshitomo in Omaha, Nebraska, is nothing short of a revelation. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between intimate and lively, making it ideal for both quiet conversations and celebratory meals. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, and clearly proud of the artistry they were serving.I ordered the variety sushi and several other dishes, and every bite reaffirmed why Yoshitomo has earned such a stellar reputation. The fish was impeccably fresh — delicate, vibrant, and expertly sliced — while the rice had the perfect balance of seasoning and texture. Each piece of sushi felt thoughtfully composed, highlighting the natural flavors without overwhelming them. The attention to detail extended beyond the food, too, from the beautiful plating to the timing of each course arriving at the table.Simply put, Yoshitomo is a standout not just in Omaha, but anywhere. It’s clear that chef David Utterback and his team are on a mission to deliver world-class sushi in the Midwest, and they succeed in spectacular fashion. Whether you’re a seasoned sushi aficionado or someone just beginning to explore it, Yoshitomo is a must-visit — a place where every bite feels special and memorable.
Apr 28, 2025 · Shalin ShahDiscovering that there was a James Beard Award–winning sushi restaurant in Omaha, Nebraska, made me extend my trip by a day since they were closed on Monday. I visited Yoshitomo on a Tuesday night and opted for the omakase menu, where the chef selects the dishes for you. I couldn't be happier with my experience. The chefs were incredibly friendly and informative, engaging in conversation while I sat at the sushi bar. The menu was fantastic, offering a mix of items from their regular selection and some special dishes unique to the omakase experience. Plus, the omakase menu was totally worth the price—you get to taste a wide variety of dishes that would have cost much more if ordered individually, and the curated experience adds so much value. Some standouts were the truffle scallop nigiri, the fluke with plum and mint, the fried rice bowl with crab, crab fat, and salmon roe—so rich and satisfying it felt like an entrée all on its own. Definitely try the aged wagyu beef nigiri with browned uni-infused butter. They also dry age some of their fish in house. I'd never had dry aged fish before, and now it's all I want. The pickled Japanese anchovy was my favorite. This went well beyond the typical sushi experience.A truly memorable dining experience. I’m so glad I made the detour.
May 23, 2025 · Heather WGreat place for a complete sushi experience! We sat at the bar because we did not have a reservation but it was amazing to watch them prepare the food. Highly recommend!
May 03, 2025 · James EmmelkampAs good as it gets in the Midwest. No soy sauce no yum yum sauce no BS. Great service and fantastic bites. Waitress was as good as it gets. I visit Omaha for work once a year and NEVER skip this place.
