We were planing to visit this place because we had a great time at the 5A5 steakhouse that we have visited before covid. My husband thought it’s the same place as the steakhouse when he booked through open table. But it ends up it’s a total different place other than steakhouse. They have a very small selection of Asian fusion food. We ordered the beef noodle soup ($30) and a dumpling ($23) literally just one dumpling. With the 10.8% of tax and 25% of sf mandate service fee. AND still need to add 20~25% tips. Very pricy to me. I think the name 5A5 should better off keep it as a steakhouse. I miss the old times. - Yuzhen Situ

5A5 Introduce

For discerning palates in California seeking an elevated and truly unique dining experience, San Francisco offers a culinary destination that has undergone a remarkable transformation. Formerly known as a celebrated steakhouse, 5A5 has been reimagined and reborn as a captivating Izakaya, offering an Asian-inspired culinary journey that transcends typical dining expectations. This isn't just a change in cuisine; it's a complete re-envisioning of the fine dining landscape, now showcasing the masterful artistry of Executive Chef Cat Wang.

5A5 Izakaya is designed to be a sensory event, reflecting its name, which is derived from the five senses – Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste, and Touch. While its heritage as a purveyor of the highest-grade A5 Japanese Wagyu remains, the new Izakaya format allows for a broader exploration of Asian flavors and innovative culinary techniques. Chef Wang, with her impressive background having staged at some of Asia's "50 Best" restaurants and a win on Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen, brings a worldly perspective to the menu. She skillfully marries exciting flavors from her travels in nuanced and playful ways, creating dishes that are as visually stunning as they are deliciously complex. For Californians accustomed to diverse and high-quality dining, 5A5 Izakaya offers a luxurious and truly memorable occasion, perfect for special celebrations or simply indulging in culinary artistry.
