The omakase sessions were superb, with a mix of standard and creative dishes, well prepared and nicely plated, and all of the fish was of excellent quality. At $80/pp for 9 to 10 courses it's not cheap, but is good value, and we eat a lot of Japanese food and I can confidently say you won't find better for less in Miami. The a la carte menu is very basic, so if there's something specific you want, you should ask for it. The chef will happily take requests off-menu if he has the ingredients on hand, and if he doesn't, will suggest an alternative. If just want basic rolls you can get them cheaper elsewhere, although they probably won't be quite as good.The place is tiny, with 6 seats and 2 more in a pinch. There is one chef and one host/server who have been the same each time we visited. They are personable and good at taking cues, so if you want to eat in silence you can, or vice versa. Lastly, they are BYOB with no corkage fee and it sounds like there are no plans to get a liquor license. We like that because we're happy to bring our own and save the money, but if you forget there are a few different wine/beer/liquor stores nearby on Calle Ocho.
