Akita Sushi Gourmet Inc is described as a casual dining establishment. Its location on The Alameda, near Santa Clara University (SCU), makes it particularly convenient for students and those working in the vicinity. The ambiance is generally straightforward, focusing on providing a functional space for diners. While specific details on decor are limited, the primary draw appears to be its accessibility and the efficiency of its in-person dining experience. The restaurant is suitable for quick lunches and informal meals, offering a no-frills environment where the focus is on the food and the dining process. It provides a simple and comfortable setting for guests looking for a relaxed meal without a high-end atmosphere. Its proximity to a major university also suggests a lively, albeit casual, local vibe, with an emphasis on accommodating student schedules and budgets.
---
The service at Akita Sushi Gourmet Inc has generally been described as "always nice" by dine-in customers. This suggests a friendly and welcoming approach from the staff, contributing to a pleasant experience for those eating inside the restaurant. The restaurant appears to prioritize its in-person dining, with lunch specials seemingly geared towards dine-in patrons, catering to students and local workers. While direct information regarding online ordering availability is not consistently clear, it is mentioned that the lunch special might be exclusively for dining in. This emphasis on in-house service indicates a traditional approach to restaurant operations. For those utilizing delivery services, there have been instances where items like rice and miso soup were not included with orders, and there was a significant issue with a raw hamachi kama being delivered, indicating a potential need for improved quality control and attention to detail for off-premise orders.

Akita Sushi Gourmet Inc offers a selection of Japanese dishes, with a particular focus on sushi and bento-style meals. Here are some of the key features and customer experiences with their culinary offerings:
- Lunch Specials: A notable feature is their lunch special, priced at approximately $12, which is popular, especially among students from nearby SCU. This special often includes dishes like teriyaki chicken, which customers find "pretty good" for the price point.
- Sushi Rolls: The restaurant offers a variety of sushi rolls. For dine-in experiences, rolls have been described as "tasty." An unagi handroll was noted as "pretty good" by a customer.
- Unagi (Eel): The unagi handroll has received positive feedback, suggesting this might be a stronger item on their menu.
- Miso Soup: Miso soup is typically served with meals, though there have been instances where it was missing from delivery orders.
- Hamachi Kama (Yellowtail Collar): This dish, when ordered for delivery, has presented significant quality control issues, with a reported instance of being served raw, requiring the customer to cook it themselves. This points to inconsistency in preparation for delivery orders.
- Sushi Quality: While some customers found the sushi rolls "tasteless" and reported that the rice used was "not sushi-cooked rice" for delivery orders, other dine-in experiences suggest a more positive outcome. This discrepancy might highlight a difference in quality or attention to detail between dine-in and delivery services.
- Focus on Teriyaki Chicken: The teriyaki chicken, particularly within the lunch special, appears to be a popular and well-received item, suggesting it might be a more consistent highlight of their menu for some patrons.

Akita Sushi Gourmet Inc’s promotional aspects primarily revolve around its value offerings and convenient location:
- Student-Friendly Pricing: The $12 lunch special is clearly designed to attract and cater to students from Santa Clara University, offering an affordable meal option. This is a significant draw for the local student population.
- Dine-In Focus: While the restaurant may be available on delivery platforms, the reviews suggest that the most consistent and positive experiences occur when dining in, especially for the lunch special. It is advisable to visit in person to fully experience their offerings.
- Convenient Location: Its address on The Alameda makes it easily accessible for those in Santa Clara, particularly for quick lunch breaks or casual dinners.
- Takeout/Delivery Caution: Based on the provided feedback, it is advisable for customers to be aware of potential inconsistencies or quality control issues when opting for delivery services, particularly for cooked items like hamachi kama. Confirming all ordered items are included in delivery is also recommended.
- Lunch Hour Value: For those on a budget or looking for a good deal, the lunch special appears to be the most reliable and positively reviewed offering.
- Phone Orders: For direct pickup, calling ahead at (408) 320-2779 would be the most reliable way to place an order, ensuring direct communication with the restaurant staff.
In conclusion, Akita Sushi Gourmet Inc at 2251 The Alameda, Santa Clara, CA 95050, positions itself as a convenient and affordable Japanese restaurant, especially catering to the student community and local workers with its lunch specials. While in-person dining generally offers friendly service and satisfactory basic options like teriyaki chicken and some sushi rolls, there have been notable inconsistencies with delivery orders, particularly concerning quality control and completeness. For those seeking a casual, budget-friendly Japanese meal and planning to dine in, Akita Sushi Gourmet Inc can be a viable option, but it's important to set expectations, especially for off-premise orders.

Akita Sushi Gourmet Inc Reviews
I come here for lunch because it's near my work. They have a good lunch special for $12 to cater to students since it's near SCU. It's pretty good if you like teriyaki chicken. I think this is dining in only, not sure if its available online to order.I ordered the unagi handroll also and it was pretty good. The service was always nice when I'm here.
Jan 15, 2025 · Viola C.I ordered sushi rolls, miso soup and hamachi kama delivery.I’ll start with the fact they didn’t put the rice and miso soups in the bag.Sushi were tasteless, rice they used is not sushi-cooked rice. But the worst part is a raw hamachi kama (photo attached). I had to put it in the oven to finish their “cooking”. I understand that you guys are cooking frozen fish for your dishes, but there should be at least some quality control.I want you to look in the eyes of the one who put this hamachi kama in the box for delivery.Avoid this place.
Jan 18, 2025 · Oleksii KhilkevychThe food quality is really good. I always order the Poke Bowl—it’s great. Just be careful with the wasabe.
May 02, 2025 · Javier Antonio Martínez QuintanillaI went to the Blosson Cherry Festival at Cupertino. I order from the food truck chicken teriyaki plate, the rice was soggy and the chicken did not look appetizing. I also order the tempura roll and they gave me a broken fall apart tempura roll that it did not taste good either. I end up throwing half of the food away. Not recommended.
Apr 27, 2025 · Andrea GuzI had some extra time and decided to come here for lunch. To be honest, I have been to many sushi restaurants. It is one of my favorites to eat. This restaurant was okay, but to be honest, I just didn't taste and feel the same as I have at other places. Sushi was not really the best... I'm not saying that I wouldn't come back here, But my one experience were just not that great.
