4.0
If you want to catch a spot here before 9PM, come before opening at like 4PM to put your name down in their lil 📓 waitlist. The meat was exquisite - their cuts of beef were solid. Some better than others for sure. My personal favorites are number 1. Prime Boneless Short Rib and 3. Salted tongue. Cook number 1 to medium rare so that its still soft and not too chewy - try not to get it charred unless u like rubber. For number 3, I like to make this crispier actually because the slices are thinner. The other cuts were marinated well, but I personally don’t like their texture or flavor as much.Service was quick and the servers were friendly. The meats came out within - Cheok Meng Law

Features / Highlights

Anjin in Costa Mesa is distinguished by several key features and highlights that contribute to its immense popularity and make it a highly recommended Japanese BBQ destination for locals in California.

  • Exquisite Quality of Meat: This is by far Anjin's most celebrated feature. Customers consistently rave about the "exquisite" and "solid" cuts of beef. The focus is clearly on quality over quantity, with specific mentions of Prime Boneless Short Rib and Salted Tongue as standout items, prepared to perfection. The presence of premium options like Kobe Style Beef and Wagyu further elevates their offering.

  • Authentic Yakiniku Experience: Anjin delivers a true Japanese BBQ experience, allowing diners to grill their chosen meats at their own table. This interactive and personalized cooking method is a significant draw for those seeking an engaging meal.

  • Friendly and Efficient Service: Despite the restaurant's popularity and often long wait times, the service receives high praise. Staff members are consistently described as "friendly" and "polite," and the speed at which meat orders arrive at the table is noted as "quick." This efficient service helps manage the dining flow effectively.

  • Worth the Wait: While acknowledging the often considerable wait times (sometimes requiring guests to arrive hours before opening to put their name on a list), customers overwhelmingly agree that the food quality makes the wait "worthy" and "did not disappoint." This speaks volumes about the perceived value and deliciousness of the cuisine.

  • Cozy and Warm Ambiance: Despite its popularity, Anjin maintains a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. It's described as a "cozy and warm" place, contributing to an enjoyable dining experience.

  • Consistent Quality: Patrons who are familiar with Japanese BBQ often compare Anjin favorably to other establishments, indicating a consistent standard of quality that sets it apart. The meats are described as having the "right" texture and flavor.

  • A La Carte Ordering: The menu's à la carte structure allows diners to select precisely the cuts and quantities they desire, ensuring a tailored and satisfying meal experience without the constraints of all-you-can-eat formats.

Promotions or Special Offers

Anjin's reputation for exceptional quality and its consistently long wait times suggest that the restaurant’s primary appeal lies in its premium offerings rather than frequent discounts or promotions. As a highly sought-after establishment, their focus is likely on maintaining the high standard of their meats and dining experience. Therefore, significant promotions might not be a regular feature.

However, it's always a good practice for locals in California to check directly with the restaurant for the most current information. While customer reviews don't highlight specific ongoing deals, some general possibilities for a restaurant of Anjin's caliber could include:

  • Seasonal Specials: Occasionally, restaurants might introduce limited-time offerings of rare or seasonal cuts of meat, which could be highlighted as a special.

  • Lunch Specials: While Anjin is known for its dinner service, some high-end Japanese BBQ spots might offer a more streamlined or slightly reduced-price menu during lunch hours, if applicable. (Note: Anjin's stated hours are 5 PM to 1 AM, indicating primarily dinner and late-night service).

  • Early Bird or Late-Night Specials: To help manage demand and spread out customer flow, a restaurant might offer incentives for dining during off-peak times, although Anjin's late-night hours already serve this purpose to some extent by offering a less crowded option.

Given the strong customer endorsement that the experience is "worthy" even at a higher price point, the value derived from the quality of the food itself acts as a continuous draw. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on any potential special offers, it is best to contact Anjin directly using the provided contact details.
