Benihana Introduce
For New Jersey residents, particularly those in the Short Hills area and beyond, Benihana stands as an iconic destination for a truly unique dining experience. Since its inception, Benihana has been synonymous with teppanyaki dining, a style of Japanese cuisine where skilled chefs prepare your meal right before your eyes on a sizzling steel grill. This isn't just about eating; it's about being entertained, making it a popular choice for celebrations, family gatherings, or simply a memorable night out.
Benihana's legacy as one of the first restaurants to introduce teppanyaki to the U.S., founded by Rocky Aoki in 1964, has solidified its place in the history of Japanese food's international impact. The Short Hills location continues this tradition, drawing diners who are eager for both delicious food and an engaging performance. While the quality of the food can sometimes be a subject of discussion, the spectacle provided by the hibachi chefs consistently delivers an "engaging and fun to watch" experience. New Jerseyans looking for more than just a meal, but an interactive and lively evening, will find Benihana to be a compelling choice that promises a show alongside their dinner. It’s a place where laughter and sizzling sounds create a vibrant atmosphere suitable for guests of all ages, aiming to create "great guest memories."

Benihana Reviews
very good food. the person taking our orders was Daniella who was really nice and explained the foods well. the chef serving us was Daniel and it was cool watching him cook, he’s really good at it. I ordered seafood and noodles and it was REALLY GOOD! very spicy too. I also tried my friend’s chicken and was expecting it to be mid and bland, but it was actually really tasty! The Seafood Diablo was still better though. Food was very filling and we couldn’t finish desert (banana tempura) but it was good way to end the meal. also the drinks were good very tasty
Nov 24, 2024 · Roshini SunjithI had high expectations for Benihana, given its history as one of the first restaurants to introduce teppanyaki dining to the U.S. Founded in 1964 by Rocky Aoki, it became famous for its chefs’ entertaining cooking performances, and I was hoping for a great meal to match what I have read in a book about Japanese food’s international impact. The performance didn’t disappoint—the chef was engaging and fun to watch. But the food? That’s where things fell flat. The soup was way too salty, and both the filet mignon and chicken were overcooked and dry. On top of that, service was slow. The waiter didn’t clear plates in a timely manner, and I had to ask for the ice cream that was supposed to be included in my meal.If you’re going for the show, you’ll probably have a good time. But if you care more about the food, I wouldn’t recommend it. Given Benihana’s legacy, I expected much better.
Feb 08, 2025 · Yammi CI haven’t been to Benihana since I was a child and I was excited to hear they had happy hour. We arrived around 630pm, there was no wait time, and we were seated at the bar.The service was fast. The happy hour drinks & food did not disappoint - especially the shrimp sushi roll! I got spicy edamame as well and can’t wait to return.
