What is worth choosing?
Blue Ribbon Kanpai Garden offers a truly distinct experience in New York City that sets it apart from other sushi restaurants. While it carries the renowned Blue Ribbon name, known for its high-quality sushi, it uniquely combines this culinary standard with a casual, beer-garden-style atmosphere. This fusion makes it an excellent choice for a wide array of occasions that go beyond a typical dinner outing. It's a place where you can get top-tier sushi and other Japanese delights without the formal, often quiet, setting of a traditional sushi restaurant.
The rooftop setting is the primary reason to choose this spot. It’s a rare and valuable find in a city where outdoor space is at a premium. The environment is vibrant and dynamic, perfect for celebrating with a large group of friends or enjoying a casual lunch. The games, like ping-pong, provide a built-in form of entertainment, encouraging guests to linger and enjoy the space. This is a restaurant that prioritizes the overall experience just as much as the food itself.
While the pricing is noted as being standard for NYC, the quality of the food and the unique atmosphere provide a great value. The menu is diverse, with a focus on small plates, quick bites, and happy hour food, making it easy to create a custom meal for your group. You can opt for a delicious meal of sushi and sashimi, or choose from a range of other offerings like tempura or small bites to share. The availability of a great selection of beverages, including craft beers and cocktails, further enhances the social nature of the venue.
In a city where dining can often be a serious affair, Blue Ribbon Kanpai Garden provides a refreshing alternative. It’s a place for fun, for friends, and for celebrating life's moments over great food and drinks. The combination of a top-notch culinary brand, a relaxed and trendy atmosphere, and a unique rooftop setting makes it a top choice for anyone in New York looking for a memorable and enjoyable Japanese dining experience.

Blue Ribbon Kanpai Garden Reviews
My sister and her friend celebrated their birthdays at Kanpai Garden. They were able to reserve two tables ahead of time for the rooftop Biergarten, as long as enough people showed up in time. The Biergarten is 75% shaded and has a ping pong table and assorted board games- perfect place to hangout with friends! The prices are the usual for NYC: $8 for a small cup of rosé, $8-16 for local and imported cans of beer. Kanpai Garden is nicely decorated, which makes for great photos. If you are looking for a cute chill place to hang and drink with friends, this is the spot!
July 10 · Leslie DiazGreat place for big groups. They have giant beers and games to play. They do try to scheme you with 20% automatic gratuity when they literally just bring you a drink which is kinda BS but hey what are you gonna do?
August 29 · Jeff PlotkinJust your basic board games, drinks are ok, no more numbing peppercorn chips either :(
