Gourmet Teriyaki Introduce
On Mercer Island, nestled at 7671 SE 27th St, you'll find Gourmet Teriyaki, a Japanese restaurant that, despite its humble facade, has garnered a reputation for its consistently good food, particularly its teriyaki. This spot is a go-to for locals seeking a satisfying and flavorful Japanese meal without any pretense. While it might not be the most polished establishment, its culinary offerings speak for themselves, making it a reliable choice for a quick and tasty bite.
Considering the "Doctor Near Me" platform category, where users seek out specific, reliable services or goods, Gourmet Teriyaki fits as a trusted provider for a quick and comforting meal. Just as you'd search for a medical professional to address a specific health need, Gourmet Teriyaki offers a dependable solution for your hunger, especially when you're looking for a no-fuss, good-quality Japanese meal.
Gourmet Teriyaki offers a very straightforward and practical dining environment. It’s a casual eatery where the focus is firmly on the food rather than elaborate decor. Customers note that the tables and dining areas are kept clean, indicating that the establishment is well-maintained. However, the furniture and fixtures show signs of wear from extensive use and exposure to sunlight, suggesting a long history of serving the community. This worn-in look contributes to a very relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. While some might find the exterior or general vibe less polished than other establishments, for many, this contributes to its charm as a genuine, no-frills local spot. It’s the kind of place where you come specifically for the food, and the casual setting allows for a quick and uncomplicated dining experience.
Gourmet Teriyaki primarily operates as a quick-service restaurant, catering to both dine-in customers and those opting for takeout. The restaurant's service can vary. There are instances where customers have experienced warm and friendly interactions, particularly with an "old Korean lady" who is noted for her kindness and willingness to accommodate even before opening hours. This personal touch highlights a genuine care for customers that can elevate the dining experience. However, other interactions with different staff members have been noted as less consistent, with suggestions that overall service could be improved. Despite these variations, the core service of providing good food quickly seems to be the restaurant’s strength. Customers typically place their orders at a counter and then either find a seat or wait for their takeout. Given the nature of a casual teriyaki spot, the emphasis is on efficiency and getting hot, fresh food to the customer.
For those looking to contact the restaurant, the phone numbers provided are (206) 232-0580 and +1 206-232-0580, which would be the primary means for inquiries or placing takeout orders. The restaurant’s commitment to providing good food remains consistent, regardless of minor variations in service interactions.
The undisputed highlight of Gourmet Teriyaki is its food quality, consistently praised for being "good without any doubt." While the name implies a focus on teriyaki, it’s specifically the beef teriyaki that receives notable acclaim. Customers frequently commend the beef for being remarkably tender and not rubbery, a common pitfall in some teriyaki establishments. This tenderness indicates careful preparation and quality ingredients, ensuring a satisfying texture with every bite. The flavors are straightforward, comforting, and precisely what you’d expect from a well-made teriyaki dish.
While specific details on other menu items are not provided in the reviews, the general positive sentiment about the food suggests that their range of teriyaki and potentially other Japanese casual dishes meets a high standard for this type of eatery. In this genre, consistency and execution of core dishes are paramount, and Gourmet Teriyaki appears to deliver on this. The focus on quality protein, like their tender beef, is a significant draw, setting it apart in a competitive market.
Gourmet Teriyaki’s primary form of promotion appears to be through word-of-mouth and its reputation for good food. There are no specific promotional deals mentioned, but the consistent quality of the food, especially the tender beef teriyaki, serves as its strongest allure. The restaurant is located at 7671 SE 27th St, Mercer Island, WA 98040, USA, making it a convenient stop for Mercer Island residents and those passing through. The phone numbers, (206) 232-0580 and +1 206-232-0580, provide direct contact for placing orders or making inquiries. While there are some comments about the general feel of the place regarding safety in "less reputable places," it's important to clarify that this appears to be a subjective interpretation of a worn-in appearance rather than any indication of actual safety concerns. The consensus is that the place is "watched over by people," implying a level of care and oversight, even if the personal interactions vary. The overriding message from reviews is that the food is undeniably good, which is the ultimate draw for a casual dining establishment like this.
In essence, Gourmet Teriyaki on Mercer Island is a straightforward, no-frills Japanese restaurant that excels in its core offerings, particularly its tender and flavorful beef teriyaki. It's a testament to the idea that excellent food can be found in unassuming places, providing a reliable and satisfying meal for those in search of good, honest Japanese comfort food. It stands as a local culinary constant, valued for its consistent quality and hearty portions.

Gourmet Teriyaki Reviews
I was lucky the little old lady was there. She was nice and even if they were not open yet she took my order as she said I looked hungry. Food is great and beef is tender and not like rubber. The tables and stuff were clean but you can tell they are weather worn from lots of use and the sun from windows. You can tell the place is watched over by people but couldn't tell if they are nice or not. If you don't feel safe in less reputable places don't go here even if it's a shame there food is good.
May 15 · Jorbie KelleyThe food here is good without any doubt.Best service you get is from the little friendly old korean lady . But any one else , service needs improving
May 27 · Ryan ManIt’s kinda gross. Especially being located 5 mins from bill gates’ house! The food was alright but the tables are gross and they have meat visible on the counter not refrigerated. I didn’t get sick but I’m definitely not going back.
April 22 · Chris DreierA Teriyaki Gem in Culinary ExcellenceRating: ★★★★★I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Gourmet Teriyaki, and I must say, it was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by the delightful aroma of sizzling teriyaki that set the stage for an unforgettable meal. The atmosphere was cozy yet retro back in 90's where my parents used to took me for dinner in Japan. perfect for both take out dinners and casual gatherings. Now, onto the star of the show—the food. The teriyaki dishes were nothing short of perfection. I ordered spicy teriyaki, regular teriyaki, bbq pork and egg roll and pot stickers. The meat was tender and succulent, coated in a luscious teriyaki glaze that struck the ideal balance between sweet and savory. The side dishes, from the egg rolls to the gyoza, were equally impressive, showcasing the chef's commitment to quality and authenticity. Portions are generous and it's more than enough for the whole family. Some people complained about the front desk person taking orders. I agree that he was not the warmest cahier but was not rude at all. He just says whatever to himself a lot. One of the workers apologized said he never messes up the order and he is a really sweet guy, he doesn't mean any harm.Whether you're a teriyaki aficionado or new to the cuisine, this restaurant has something to offer everyone. It's clear that the chefs take pride in their craft, and it shines through in every dish. I cannot recommend Teriyaki Restaurant highly enough. It's a true gem in the world of teriyaki cuisine.
October 28 · James ChangA classic Mercer Island establishment with some of the best chicken teriyaki I’ve ever had.The rude guy behind the counter wasn’t there today and instead it was one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. Top notch customer service.Sure, the previous guy behind the counter was rude and short with people but honestly I always thought was hilarious, plus the quality of the food has always good so no harm no foul. Ignore the reviews about the rude guy and get the chicken teriyaki, you won’t regret it
