Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ

1364 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60607, USA

My first appointment of the day was delayed by almost an hour. I was starting to hear my stomach grumble. So, why not, look up restaurant week menus to see if there was a lunch spot near my next appointment.Gyu-Kaku seemed like the best menu for my $30. I’ve never had Japanese BBQ (only Korean).I was welcomed in and was seated immediately. The music was some fun 80s-90s rock.Service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable.Miso soup, salad with a ponzu dressing, steamed pork dumplings with a garlic chili oil, followed by spicy beef and pork that you grill at the table. A big bowl of rice accompanied my proteins. And then green tea ice cream. I only had one bite of dessert because I was so stuffed. It was a great experience. Delicious. Friendly service.I’m already planning to go back. - Smedley Biranstrom
