HAMA Reviews
Friendly and courteous staff, always enjoyed the ambiance here. Great wine selection and the sushi is top notch. The cooked fish is delicious too. Dessert is a nice complement. Came here before a Broadway show, so definitely a pleasure since the servers helped to accomodate our needs.
March 25 · Andy SramI thought the food was very good. The sushi seemed fresh and we enjoyed everything we ordered. The prices are very reasonable for the area and the staff treated us very warmly. It also had a nice atmosphere and I enjoyed being in the basement, removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. EDIT: We came again a year later and the food is still just as good. The sushi was fresh and the udon soup was delicious. Also, it was so cozy warm in here, which was a nice reprieve from the January wind outside.
January 09 · Elizabeth Alexander-FowlerHot Sake and Sapporo on draft, already a winning combination. The Miso soup is very good. The sashimi is cut pretty thin, but it's delicious, and the presentation is nice. The Omakase I had was less of a thrilling chef's specialty for the evening but instead consisted of various nigiri pieces from the menu arranged on a platter. And there is nothing wrong with that. It's a good way to get to see the rest of the nigiri on the menu. I was just expecting a little more imagination. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, and everything is very clean. The service was excellent.Overall, it's very, very, very good, and I do recommend them.I only deducted a star due to the Omakase experience as my expectations were high. One thing that I noticed is that the restaurant doesn't have handicapped access, so just be aware of that.
February 19 · Jeff GojiWe have dined at Hama about a dozen times over the years, mostly for lunch. The sushi here is really good. I've tried many of their dishes and have never had a bad meal. The service is solid, and the lunch menu is reasonably priced for being in the heart of Midtown. If you're looking for a good Japanese restaurant in the area that won't break the bank, Hama is your spot!
October 29 · A Rsoo good with kind service and very cozy nice atmosphere and very good prices :) i got miso soup, gyoza, and an avocado roll for $20. the staff dont come check on you as much while you eat but i honestly really appreciated that. portions are a great small size that won’t leave you wasting food but will also leave you full and content.
