It's not merely a restaurant; it's a destination where the freshest ingredients are transformed into exquisite dishes, making it a must-visit for any sushi lover or connoisseur of fine Japanese dining in San Diego.
Himitsu, under the skilled hands of Chef Mitsu Aihara, a celebrated alum of Sushi Ota, brings the authentic essence of Tokyo's sushi bars to Southern California. The philosophy here is simple yet profound: prioritize premium, top-grade fish and ingredients, and combine them with meticulous craftsmanship. This dedication results in traditional sushi, nigiri, and an array of Japanese-style tapas that are both beautiful to behold and incredibly flavorful to taste. The atmosphere is designed to be exclusive and personal, allowing diners to truly connect with the culinary process and the art on their plate.
What sets Himitsu apart in La Jolla's competitive dining scene is its unwavering commitment to providing an unparalleled experience. Locals and visitors alike consistently praise the restaurant for its unique approach to traditional Japanese fare, often recommending the chef's specials or the omakase experience for a truly memorable meal. The emphasis on high-quality, fresh ingredients and the artistic presentation of each dish ensures that Himitsu remains a top contender for upscale Japanese dining in the San Diego area, perfect for those seeking something truly special.
Himitsu is discreetly located at 1030 Torrey Pines Rd G, La Jolla, CA 92037, USA. Accessibility to Himitsu generally involves navigating the charming, albeit sometimes busy, streets of La Jolla. There is a small parking lot available, which can be convenient, but as some customers have noted, parking can be difficult depending on the night. Himitsu Reviews
My second time here and both times were amazing! I went here this past Sunday for their new Sunday special dinner; which is limited seating at the bar with a unique tasting menu prepared and served by Himitsu himself. So many favorites, I wish I remembered all the names of everything we tried but take my word for it! If you are a sushi lover and haven't tried this place, you must at it to your list! Depending on the night parking can be difficult, there's a small parking lot, so just account for that. Supringly there was plenty of parking on Sunday when we went! They are going to continue a monthly Sunday special service if you we were looking for a special and unique sushi date night!

Apr 06, 2025 · Mary RufoFantastic sushi with some inventive dishes and great service.Himitsu gets it right, serving up delicious cuts of classic nigiri as well as some local delicacies that you won’t find anywhere else.I think Wasabi Caesar Salad is probably the best invention of the 21st century.Make a reservation! We didn’t have a reservation on a Saturday night but they were able to seat us within 20 min.
Apr 30, 2025 · Max JackowitzWhat a lovely Reception and welcome from the server and the hostess we had a great meal here. Recommendations were accepted by our fabulous waitress, and everything was excellent, including her recommendation of sake . Food was delicious and plenty of specialty dishes to choose from
Mar 29, 2025 · Michelle CoppelReally good, upscale restaurant. Good location, good service, portions are on the small side. The appetizer peppers were good, but one pepper was unexpectedly and extremely spicy — I hadn't had that pain from spicy food in a long time. The moment I bit into it, I knew... Good ambiance, but again, the portions were small. I went right after my last final of Fall 2024.
