Another review mentions a server who went "above and beyond to accommodate every request," showcasing the restaurant's dedication to customer satisfaction. The staff's willingness to assist with seating preferences, like moving guests to quieter areas, further underscores their commitment to comfort. Reservations are encouraged, especially for indoor seating, due to limited space, allowing the team to better manage guest flow and ensure a smooth dining experience. They also accommodate walk-ups based on availability. Ichikawa Sushi Bar prides itself on its distinctive features, primarily its commitment to traditional Japanese cuisine and the use of fresh, seasonal ingredients. Chef Peter Swan, hailing from Japan, has been the sushi chef for over 20 years, bringing authenticity and mastery to his craft. He is known for upholding traditional methods with "surety and passion," ensuring a genuine Japanese culinary experience. The restaurant is renowned for its fresh seafood, with some even claiming it offers "the best in Washington state." The menu extends beyond sushi and sashimi, offering a wide array of traditional Japanese dishes. Options include various entrees like Chicken Teriyaki, Tonkatsu, Tempura Entrées, and Seared Ahi Tuna. For seafood enthusiasts, there's Gin Dara (grilled black cod) and Chili-miso seafood. The sushi entrees, including Moriawase (Chef's choice sashimi platter), Sushi & Sashimi Combo, and Chirashi Bowl, are considered the "undeniable stars of the show." Beyond raw fish, they offer handmade potstickers and from-scratch tempura onion rings, demonstrating a diverse culinary appeal. A significant feature that garners high praise is their inclusion of "Vegan options!", which is a notable highlight for many, demonstrating inclusivity in their menu. One glowing review specifically stated, "Oh my word! Best place to eat in all of Port Townsend! Vegan options!" highlighting this as a significant draw. The seafood soup also receives special mention for its remarkable flavor. While the focus is on traditional Japanese fare, they also offer other choices for those not primarily seeking sushi, including great steaks, stir-fries, and noodle dishes.
In terms of promotional information, while specific discount campaigns or ongoing specials are not explicitly detailed online, the restaurant's commitment to quality and fresh ingredients serves as a powerful draw. They emphasize using fresh, seasonal, and traditional methods, which is a strong selling point for diners seeking authentic Japanese cuisine. The glowing customer reviews, highlighting the exceptional food quality, attentive service, and pleasant ambiance, act as a significant form of promotion. Phrases like "This place is the best in town, hands down" and "Always consistent and great food" serve as strong testimonials. They also offer expanded Sake selections, which may appeal to connoisseurs. It is important for potential diners to note that due to increases in product costs, menu pricing may be subject to change, and reservations are strongly encouraged to ensure a table. The restaurant's policy of not offering to-go orders during evening service due to staff capacity further emphasizes their focus on providing a quality dine-in experience for their patrons. Ichikawa Sushi Bar welcomes both cash and card payments.
In conclusion, Ichikawa Sushi Bar, operating within the "Doctor Near Me" platform category, offers more than just a meal; it provides a comprehensive Japanese culinary journey in Port Townsend. With its traditional focus, fresh ingredients, wide array of dishes including acclaimed vegan options, and dedicated service, it stands as a go-to destination for anyone looking for an authentic and satisfying Japanese dining experience. Oh my word! Best place to eat in all of Port Townsend! Vegan options!
Mar 27, 2025 · Hank MorgadoThis place is the best in town, hands down. The sashimi & suhi was fantastic and the seafood soup has me thinking about trying to make it at home - doupe it will be close to this. Sit at the sushi bar and talk to Caleb, he was excellent at sushi making and super fun to talk with.
Apr 21, 2025 · Nicholas WardMy husband and I had a great time here. We ate dinner at the bar while Chef Caleb prepared a beautiful assortment of rolls. Chef Caleb is skilled and friendly. I am a vegetarian and had plenty to choose from. My husband ate a wide variety of rolls. Service was friendly. The atmosphere was inviting and sitting at the bar was a plus. The hot tea was delicious and it was a great place for dinner! Items we enjoyed included: fresh oysters (yum!) and for the seafood lover and meat eater: Karaage wings, Ichikawa roll, Dungeness crab roll, Karachi maguro (dungeness was the fave) and for the vegetarian: Kampyo Roll (yum!), Avocado roll and Shojin roll (extra yum!). Highly recommend going! A nice high quality, low pressure meal.
Jun 11, 2024 · Rachel C.This was some of the best sushi I have had! So fresh and fast. The edamame was so crisp! Definitely will be coming back ♡
May 10, 2025 · Jo ClarkIt was tasty. However i don’t know how to describe it, other then it just doesn’t seem like any of the rolls have a “finishing touch”, or “wasn’t made with love”. I had a salmon roll, very tasty however the rice was super warm, and way to much caviar. But a beautiful location and maybe it was just really warm in port Townsend that day.
