Ishi Omakase Sushi & Premium Sake specializes in providing an immersive and refined omakase dining experience. Their services are tailored to deliver a memorable culinary journey:
- Omakase Dining Experience: The core offering is their meticulously crafted omakase menu. This involves leaving the selection of dishes entirely to the chef, who prepares a sequence of courses using the freshest and finest seasonal ingredients available.
- Chef's Counter Omakase: For the most intimate experience, guests can opt for the Chef's Counter, where courses are served directly by the chefs. This allows for direct interaction, explanations of each dish, and a firsthand view of the culinary artistry. This particular option is priced at $125 per person for an 18-course meal.
- Regular Table Omakase: Ishi Omakase also offers a table omakase experience, served in flights, providing a slightly more relaxed setting while still maintaining the integrity and quality of the omakase concept. There are different price tiers for table omakase, including options at $105 and $85 per person.
- Premium Sake and Beverage Program: Complementing the exquisite food, Ishi boasts an extensive selection of premium sake, carefully chosen to pair perfectly with the various courses. Their knowledgeable staff can guide guests through the sake menu, enhancing the dining experience. While sake is a highlight, they also offer quality beers. (Note: Whiskey is not available, so patrons might consider pre-gaming if they desire it).

- True Gem of Premium Omakase: Customers who have experienced omakase globally consistently rate Ishi as a high-caliber establishment, delivering a premium experience comparable to those found in major culinary hubs like Japan and Hong Kong.
- 18-Course Omakase Journey: The main offering is an elaborate 18-course omakase, which typically includes 2 appetizers, 12 nigiri pieces, 1 handroll, miso soup, and 2 desserts, providing a comprehensive and deeply satisfying meal.
- Exceptional Ingredient Quality: A cornerstone of Ishi's appeal is its commitment to incredibly fresh, high-quality, and often rare seasonal ingredients, such as firefly squid (a starter) and Artic Char with Truffle (used instead of salmon for a more delicate flavor).
- Thoughtful Flavor Pairings: The chefs at Ishi demonstrate exceptional skill in creating harmonious flavor combinations, ensuring each bite is a balanced and delightful experience.
- Highlight Dishes: Standout items that have captivated diners include the incredibly creamy and rich Miso Black Cod, the show-stopping Miyazaki A5 Wagyu (with its certification even presented by the chef), and the "heavenly bite" of Hokkaido Uni Toro Ikura, where uni melts and ikura bursts with sweet brininess.
- Complimentary Extra Courses: A pleasant surprise for many guests is the occasional provision of a complimentary extra course, such as the Matcha Soba with Snow Crab, Ikura, and Black Truffle, demonstrating the chefs' generosity and creativity.
- Perfectly Timed Pacing: The progression of courses is meticulously managed, allowing diners to relax, converse, and appreciate each dish without feeling rushed or waiting too long between servings.
- Attentive and Professional Service: The staff and chefs are praised for their professionalism, attentiveness, and friendly demeanor, making guests feel "relaxed and at ease through the entire evening." Servers are knowledgeable, providing detailed explanations of each course.

Given Ishi Omakase Sushi & Premium Sake's focus on a high-end, curated omakase experience, traditional "promotions" like discounted rolls or happy hour specials (common at more casual Japanese restaurants) are less typical. The value at Ishi comes from the quality of the ingredients, the artistry of the chefs, and the overall immersive dining journey.
However, it's worth noting the following aspects which act as a form of "value" or special offering:
- Tiered Omakase Pricing: Ishi offers different price points for its omakase experiences ($125 for Chef's Counter, $105 and $85 for Regular Table Omakase). This provides options for diners based on their budget and desired level of interaction, allowing more New Yorkers to experience their premium offerings.
- Surprise Extra Courses: As highlighted in customer reviews, guests are sometimes treated to complimentary "extra courses." This unexpected generosity significantly enhances the value and memorability of the dining experience, showcasing the chef's desire to delight patrons.
- Seasonal Ingredient Showcases: While not a discount, the emphasis on seasonal, premium, and often rare ingredients (like firefly squid or A5 Wagyu with certification) is a constant "special offer" of quality and uniqueness that defines the Ishi experience. This commitment to sourcing the best elevates every meal.
For specific details on seasonal menus or any current offerings, it's always best to check their official website or contact the restaurant directly. The true promotion at Ishi is the consistent delivery of an exceptional and truly premium omakase experience.

Ishi Omakase Sushi & Premium Sake Reviews
Having experienced omakase in Japan, Hong Kong and NYC, I would rate Ishi Omakase as a true gem of premium omakase. Tucked away in Park Slope, Brooklyn, they offers an 18-course omakase for $125, including 2 appetizers, 12 nigiri, 1 handroll, miso soup, 2 desserts. From the fresh ingredients to the thoughtful flavor pairings, the perfectly timed pacing, and the attentive service, every detail was so intentional. Our server was very knowledgeable, explaining every course and the ingredients used. The tables around us were celebrating birthdays and anniversaries--a clear sign that this is a great spot for special occasions, and rightfully so.Their menu highlighted seasonal ingredients, starting with firefly squid as a starter. The miso black cod was one of my favorite of the night - incredibly creamy and rich in umami. To our surprise, we were even treated to a complimentary EXTRA course--Matcha Soba with Snow Crab, Ikura and Black Truffle. The 12-piece nigiri selection featured crowd-pleasers like toro with caviar and scallop, but the Miyazaki A5 Wagyu truly stole the show. Our chef even brought out the wagyu certification. My second favorite was the Hokkaido Uni Toro Ikura--a heavenly bite. The uni literally melted in my mouth, while the ikura burst with sweet brininess, balanced by the buttery toro.Instead of using salmon, they opted for Artic Char with Truffle for a more delicate flavor. The Sea Eel was seasoned in the most minimalist way, allowing the clean, natural taste of the fish to shine. We ended the meal on a high note with two delicate desserts. The Tamago Egg Omelette had a sponge cake-like fluffy and bouncy texture, while the Kanmi Sweet konjac jelly was a refreshing, subtly sweet finish that wrapped up the night.
Apr 18, 2025 · Ruby ChanWhat a wonderful omakase counter dining experience! The pacing of the courses was just right…allowed for a pause, conversation, and a drink before the next piece hit your plate. I’ll let the pictures do the talking on the food because otherwise you’ll just have to taste it. While the staff and chefs are truly professional, I felt relaxed and at ease through the entire evening. The service is incredibly attentive and friendly. And while they have an extensive sake menu and quality beers, if your hankering for a whiskey you’ll need to pregame (I snagged a quick Macallan 12yr on the rocks next door at Alchemy Tavern before arriving).
May 18, 2025 · Christian HoehnerWhat a fantastic experience. Fresh sushi with an elegant presentation. The selections were amazing and very thoughtfully planned out. A tantalizing grouping for youth taste buds. I highly recommend Ishi Omakase Sushi.
Mar 31, 2025 · Michael ZirngiblIf I could give 10 stars, I would. We sat at the counter for our anniversary celebration, and had an amazing dinner and experience. Watching the master chef prepare each piece with such care and detail, adds to the wonderful evening. Each dish was incredible and delicious. A fabulous restaurant and evening.
Apr 05, 2025 · Parker O'BrienWe did the 18 course and it was perfectly filling. Bar seating is only for the 18 course. My only critique is that their homemade soy sauce brushed on the pieces is a bit sweeter than I liked, but that's just personal preference. Otherwise, each piece was nicely crafted and the chef and staff were lovely!I really liked their Amuse and Amberjack app + my FAVE pieces of my experience were the Scallop, A5 Wagyu, Horse Mackerel, and Otoro (added piece). The Miso Soup was served after the omakase pieces, which was different than other omakase exps, but it was still hot and comforting. The peach lychee jelly dessert was a refreshing way to end the course!
