Island Ocean Star Introduce
the waterfront restaurant south bay boulevard anna maria fl
Island Ocean Star is an Asian restaurant located at 902 S Bay Blvd, Anna Maria, FL 34216, USA, offering a distinctive dining experience on the less traveled side of Anna Maria Island. Positioned directly on the water at the marina, the restaurant boasts a beautiful setting that capitalizes on its idyllic waterfront location. While the platform category 'Doctor Near Me' might typically be associated with medical services, it also serves as a comprehensive local search engine for a wide array of services and goods, including dining establishments that cater to various needs and preferences. For those seeking a 'Doctor Near Me' for a relaxing meal with a view, Island Ocean Star presents itself as an option worth considering, particularly for its unique ambiance and position away from the more bustling areas of the island.
The environment at Island Ocean Star is one of its most compelling features. Guests are welcomed into a beautiful spot right on the water, providing picturesque views of the marina. The restaurant offers a variety of seating options, including both indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing diners to choose their preferred ambiance. The outdoor seating is particularly appealing, offering a heavily shaded area where guests can enjoy the refreshing breeze from the water. This combination of waterfront views and comfortable, shaded outdoor spaces creates a tranquil and pleasant atmosphere, ideal for a leisurely meal. The presence of a bar also adds to the relaxed and inviting environment, making it a suitable spot for those looking to unwind with a drink while enjoying the scenery. The less traveled location of the restaurant on Anna Maria Island contributes to a quieter dining experience compared to the more crowded establishments on the main street, appealing to those who prefer a more serene setting.
Service at Island Ocean Star is generally characterized by friendliness and a relaxed pace. Many patrons have noted the staff to be very friendly, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The bartender, for instance, has been described as friendly. However, it is important for prospective diners to be aware that the service can be quite unhurried. One review explicitly states that if you enjoy taking your time eating dinner, "then this is the place for you because it. Took. Time." This sentiment is echoed in observations about slow salad service, extended waits for appetizers, and even longer delays for sushi rolls. While some may appreciate this leisurely approach to dining, others accustomed to faster service might find it challenging. It appears that the restaurant operates at its own pace, which, combined with the friendly staff, aims to foster a relaxed dining experience rather than a rushed one. Communication regarding wait times might be beneficial for diners, especially those with time constraints.
When it comes to features, Island Ocean Star primarily distinguishes itself through its scenic location and the freshness of its ingredients. The fact that the restaurant is situated directly on the water at the marina is a significant draw, offering a unique backdrop for a meal. The availability of both indoor and outdoor seating, along with a bar, provides flexibility for guests. While specific dishes may not always be described as "amazing" or "elevated," there is a consensus among customers that the quality of the ingredients is fresh. This commitment to fresh ingredients is a crucial aspect of any Asian restaurant, particularly for sushi, and it suggests a foundational quality in their culinary approach. The menu includes various Asian dishes, with sushi rolls such as Ocean, Volcano, Mexican, and Fire Island mentioned in reviews. Appetizers like tempura and fried foods are also available. The emphasis appears to be on providing solid, fresh meals in a beautiful setting, rather than pushing culinary boundaries or offering highly innovative dishes. The restaurant's appeal lies in its reliable freshness and its capacity to provide a pleasant, unhurried dining experience away from the island's more hectic areas.
Regarding promotional information, Island Ocean Star, much like many establishments relying on local appeal, doesn't engage in extensive overt advertising. Its primary "promotion" comes from its physical location and word-of-mouth. For users searching on a platform like 'Doctor Near Me,' the restaurant's key selling points would be its "beautiful spot right on the water," its "friendly and great" service, and the promise of "fresh" food, even if the dishes themselves don't always "elevate to amazing." The fact that it offers "a break from the busy main street restaurants" serves as a distinct advantage for those seeking a quieter alternative. The restaurant's phone number, (941) 251-6940 or +1 941-251-6940, provides a direct line for inquiries or to call ahead, which may be advisable given the leisurely pace of service. While some experiences with service speed and presentation have been noted as areas for improvement, the overall picture painted by positive reviews points to a relaxing dining option for those prioritizing ambiance and fresh ingredients over rapid service or highly distinctive culinary creations. For those planning to visit, understanding the restaurant's relaxed pace and focusing on its appealing waterside setting will likely lead to a more satisfying experience at Island Ocean Star.

Island Ocean Star Reviews
A beautiful spot right on the water at the marina on the less traveled side of Anna Maria. With a bar, inside and outside seating you'll have plenty of areas to sit.Service is friendly and great and the view and breeze from the water in a heavily shaded area is perfect.Nothing stood out as amazing in the food, but I could tell the quality was fresh. So a great meal, but probably doesn't elevate to amazing.Very friendly staff though so we will be back if we want a break from the busy main street restaurants.
May 25, 2025 · Connor TumblesonIf you enjoy taking your time eating dinner, then this is the place for you because it. Took. Time. We called ahead thinking they would be packed like the other restaurants on the Island, excited to return after their reopening. Upon arrival, it was tired and quiet and we were seated at the bar after expressing we’d like to be outside. Salads were good but slow to come out. Hoping our tempura appetizer would follow shortly after, we waited at least 15 minutes for the room temperature fried food. At that point and not to our surprise, the sushi rolls we ordered (ocean, volcano, Mexican & fire island) took an additional 35+ minutes to get to the table on a chipped plate. The sushi presentation was lacking and the flavors all melded together - nothing was distinct. During our many minutes of waiting, we saw one of the workers blatantly drink directly from a newly opened saki bottle by the bar. The bartender was friendly but again, turtle paced. Wish we waited in line for another restaurant in the area. Won’t be back any time soon, if ever.
Apr 11, 2025 · Erin Kesslerif I could give this a negative amount of stars i absolutely would. We said prior that we would prefer to sit inside and we were immediately sat outside. After sitting we waited a good 10 minutes for menus and we waited 30 minutes for a water. Our food didn’t come out for over 2 HOURS. 120 minutes. And it was only HALF of our party. The other half of our party was sitting food-less for an entire extra 30 minutes. Beyond ridiculous. Once their food came out (and the rest of the party was waiting in the car) it was disgraceful, shrimp was baked dry and the rest of the food was mediocre at best. Not only that, they forgot a party member’s meal and we had to wait an extra 15 minutes for edible food. After the long wait they had the audacity to charge full price and not do so much as even apologize after we brought it up and gave the excuse that they had to also take care of the inside seating (where we asked to sit in the first place??) If you are debating on going here I would not recommend.
Apr 10, 2025 · AddiWe had two great dining experiences here while staying at Galati yacht basin. Jessie is a great server and the food both nights was exceptional. Highly recommend if you are on the island
May 26, 2025 · claire bellBest thing about this place is its location on the water. Try to get there before sunset! Sushi is ok. Vegetable tempura is prettygood. Everything is good but not great. A nice family owns the place. Perfectly adequate when you get a craving for Japanese food.
