Izakaya Hachi

3033 Bristol St D, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, USA

4.0
It's been a while since I've had Izakaya, and this place did not disappoint. My only wish was that the portion would be a little bigger. So if you want to be full, prepare to spend some $$. We ordered a lot of different varieties, and every dish were delicious. However, I think the beef tongue thick cut stood out the most. It's rare to get thick cut Japanese grilled tongue. I've had the best one in Sendai JP so that was my flavor reference point. This place came pretty close! The tongue was grilled to perfection and the texture was just right, soft and easy to bite with a slight crunch from the grilled outer layer. The premium sashimi was very delicious as well, but note you have to order 2 minimum (one piece of each fish/seafood in each order). Ours came with uni, toro, amaebi, salmon, hamachi, scallop, and sea bream. Because it's an Izakaya, the place gets pretty loud. Overall, I would highly recommend coming here if you want to try some thick cut beef tongue. - Jeremy L
