Kinboshi Ramen Reviews
Great ramen spot! I tried their tonkotsu Red Ramen, and it was great. The broth was rich and flavorful. The portion was a bit on the smaller side, but you can always add curry and rice for couple of bucks extra, which is a great deal. The gyoza was good, handmade and fresh. The wings looked tempting, so we gave them a try, but they didn’t quite meet our expectations. On the bright side, the kids loved their house-made sorbets.Overall, it was a great experience, but I do wish the customer service had been a bit friendlier.
December 25 · Chul LeeDid a lot of research for Ramen around Portland. Many strong recommendations and really popular spots. Something just pulled me towards Kinboshi and I'm glad I listened to my gut literally. Super flavorful broth and the noodles were superb. The appetizers complimented everything so well. Don't sleep on Kinboshi!
December 06 · Paul BupteBeen to this place and everything was delicious. Today was a big disappointment. I asked for spicy chicken ramen can’t remember the name. It came out non spicy. Tasted and smelled like burnt oodles. Crew doesn’t feel welcoming at all. I normally don’t criticize but this was awful. Fry oil needs to be changed.
March 22 · Deniel HudsonWanted to try a new spot and came across Kinboshi. Based on the amount of high ratings, I was expecting better. We had the spicy chicken karaage and both the pork and chicken red ramen. The karaage was pretty tasty but the ramen was just okay. It looked way better than it actually tasted. The broth was lacking in depth of flavor, to me it just tasted like black pepper, and the noodles weren't springy at all, if anything they were almost al dente. I was expecting it to be spicier but it was quite mild. We only got through about half of our ramen before we decided to call it quits. As far as atmosphere goes, the restaurant has an awkward flow to it. We had other guests and employees trying to get past us in the very tight space where we were ordering, and I won't knock them for that, but it certainly didn't add to the overall experience. Disappointing for $56.
February 05 · Anna HopkinsUnderwhelming. The vegan ramen was sort of passable. It definitely looked like ramen. Flavor was pretty light — to the point of almost not existing, aside from salt. So if warm water is your thing, this is the place for you. Is this the worst ramen I’ve had? No. But for $16? Yikes. The curry rice tasted almost identical to boxed Japanese curry mixes Ive bought and cooked with. The pickled veggies it came with were nice.Water is self serve. Once you order you’re basically on your own. We bussed our own plates and left without finishing the food.
