It's a concept that has captivated diners worldwide, and the D.C. location brings that same fun, happy vibe and incredible variety to locals looking for something different and delicious.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is ideally situated at 614 H St NW, Suite #100, Washington, DC 20001, USA. This prime location places it squarely in the bustling Chinatown neighborhood, a hub of activity and easily accessible for anyone in the District of Columbia. Getting to Kura is incredibly convenient via public transportation. The restaurant is just steps away from the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station, which serves the Red, Green, and Yellow lines, making it a breeze to reach from virtually anywhere in the city. Numerous bus routes also traverse H Street NW and nearby avenues. For those driving, various parking garages are available in the surrounding Chinatown area, though as with any popular downtown location, it's always wise to factor in potential traffic and parking availability, especially during peak dining times. Its central location makes it an excellent choice for a meal before catching a show at Capital One Arena, visiting the nearby museums, or simply exploring the vibrant neighborhood.
Revolving Sushi Bar: The signature experience at Kura, where a wide array of freshly prepared sushi plates (typically 2 or 4 pieces per plate) continuously circulates on a conveyor belt, allowing diners to pick their favorites as they pass by. This unique system encourages exploration and variety.
Express Belt for Custom Orders: In addition to the revolving belt, each table is equipped with a tablet for placing direct orders. These custom dishes, including hot items, sides, and specific sushi rolls, are then delivered promptly to your table via a separate express conveyor belt, ensuring freshness and efficiency.
Diverse Japanese Menu: While sushi is the star, Kura offers a comprehensive menu that extends beyond raw fish. You'll find a variety of appetizers, such as gyoza, tempura, and edamame, as well as hearty options like ramen and udon noodle soups, and delightful desserts. This ensures there's something for every preference.
Takeout and Delivery: For those who prefer to enjoy Kura's offerings at home, pickup and delivery options are available through their website and popular third-party delivery platforms. This makes it easy to bring the Kura experience to your doorstep.
Self-Service Beverage and Condiment Stations: Diners can easily access water, green tea, soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger at their tables, enhancing the self-serve, efficient nature of the dining experience.
Kura Sushi Rewards Program: A loyalty program that allows members to earn points on purchases, redeem rewards, and gain access to special offers and remote waitlist joining via their user-friendly app.
Interactive and Fun Dining Experience: The revolving sushi concept itself is a major highlight, providing an entertaining and engaging meal. It's especially popular for first-timers, who often receive a helpful tutorial from the kind and welcoming staff.
Variety and Portion Control: Kura stands out for its wide selection of sushi and other Japanese dishes, all available on small plates. This allows diners to "explore a better variety of food during the experience" without committing to an entire 8-piece roll, which is a significant plus for those who want to try many different items.
Fresh and Delicious Food: Despite the high-volume nature, customers consistently praise the freshness and deliciousness of the food, noting the quality of the sushi and other offerings.
Bikkura Pon Prize System: A unique and exciting feature, diners receive a free randomized prize from a gashapon machine for every 15 sushi plates they consume. These collaborations often feature popular intellectual properties like DC Comics or Peanuts, adding an extra layer of fun for all ages.
Efficient and User-Friendly Technology: The use of tablets for express orders and the in-app waitlist system are super user-friendly, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable dining process. The clean environment and efficient operation are also frequently mentioned.
Friendly and Helpful Staff: Despite the tech-driven format, the staff remains a key asset. Reviewers consistently commend their kindness, helpfulness, and welcoming demeanor, making the overall experience even more pleasant.
Reasonable Pricing per Plate: While prices can add up if you eat a lot, the individual plate pricing (around $3.50-$3.70 per standard plate) allows diners to control their spending and provides a clear understanding of costs.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar frequently delights its customers with special promotions, often centered around their unique Bikkura Pon prize system. These collaborations feature limited-edition prizes related to popular franchises (like the recent Peanuts x Kura Sushi or DC Comics collaborations) that are awarded for every 15 sushi plates consumed. These prizes are a major draw and add an exciting element to the dining experience. Beyond the Bikkura Pon, Kura also offers:
Kura Sushi Rewards Program: By signing up for their loyalty program, members earn points with every meal (10 points for every $1 spent). Accumulating 500 points unlocks a $5 reward, which can be redeemed on a minimum purchase. The app also provides access to promotional coupons and special offers.
In-Store Giveaways: Periodically, Kura hosts in-store giveaways for Kura Sushi Rewards Members who spend a certain amount (e.g., $70) during specific promotional periods, offering exclusive merchandise like blankets or other collectibles.
Sweepstakes: Kura sometimes runs sweepstakes in conjunction with their collaborations, offering diners a chance to win larger prizes, like family park tickets, when they meet certain spending thresholds.
For the most current information on Bikkura Pon prize collections, in-store giveaways, and any other special promotions, locals are encouraged to check the Kura Sushi website or their rewards app. These promotions are typically limited-time offers, so staying updated is key to taking advantage of the fun!

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar Reviews
It was my first time at a revolving sushi bar and I had a blast! The staff were kind, helpful and fun. We had a team member make sure I knew what I was doing since it was my first time there so we got a little tutorial which was fun and helpful. The music was great, the vibe was fun and happy, and the revolving sushi was dope! How is it that I’ve gone my whole life without this in my life! The food was delicious and I love that there were so many options Al’s my favorite part would be the portions. In many restaurants, you have to purchase an entire roll which usually had 8 pieces of sushi. I liked that the portions were in 2 or 4 so I could enjoy and explore a better variety of food during the experience. I would absolutely recommend this and hope to visit again soon!
Mar 10, 2025 · Di Anne PadovanoWe came on vacation and fell in love with the place. We dined here at least three times during our stay. The food was fresh and delicious. The staff was friendly and welcomed us each and every time. This is an absolutely phenomenal place to come and eat at. The place was also clean and the wait time was not bad. The app is super user-friendly. We are extremely grateful for the great service from Alex and Rynn!

The atmosphere was inviting and perfect for spending quality time with family. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the variety of options was impressive—something for everyone. My mom absolutely loved it, and it was heartwarming to see her enjoy each dish as it passed by.The quality of the ingredients truly stood out, and the staff was attentive, ensuring everything was seamless. The experience felt unique, fun, and authentic, making it more than just a meal—it was a memorable outing. I couldn’t have chosen a better place for this mother-daughter date. Highly recommend for anyone looking for excellent sushi and a delightful experience!
Dec 20, 2024 · Emily BerryI absolutely adore this Kaiten chain from Japan, the food quality was surprisingly consistent with what I had overseas.Service was fast and the belt was still full of variety even though we were there an hour before closing. The location itself can be a little tidier and servers could be more attentive but we went at a rather busy time during the weekend.
Apr 07, 2025 · Drake TsuiKura Revolving Sushi is such a fun and efficient place to eat. There’s a huge variety of sushi and other food choices like ramen and desserts. The best part is you can just pick what you want from the conveyor belt and start eating—no waiting for your food!We went on a Saturday evening and didn’t need a reservation. Just signed in on arrival, and the wait was about 40 minutes, which was totally fair for a weekend. The service was smooth and everything was fresh and tasty.Highly recommend if you’re in DC and craving sushi! 🍣🍜🍰
