Maruichi Select Reviews
The freshly made Pork Chashu and Ajitama Premium Onigiri is super good. The standout is the Iced Hojicha Latte—the milk and smoky hojicha are very well balanced. However, the Iced Matcha Latte is a bit too strong and very granular (they don’t whisk it properly). I know that matcha is supposed to taste a bit earthy, but their matcha latte is too bitter. I’ve gotten it twice and have had similar experiences both times. I much prefer the Hojicha Latte.Their chicken katsu curry is delicious. The chicken is perfectly fried with panko breadcrumbs and has the perfect crunch to it. The curry is also very flavorful. The dish is cheap considering the amount they serve. They also serve A&J King Artisan Bakery items and Anna’s Donuts. The Lemon Danish from A&J was really good—the pastry was nicely flaky and flavorful, and the lemon cream filling was delicious. However, it’s not worth getting the donuts, as they are very dry.
May 04 · Salokya SariraMatcha was creamy and not sweet, which was perfect for me. The spicy karaage onigiri was tasty but overpriced for what it was. The space is very open and bustling and I would definitely go again!
May 21 · Noyonika ParulekarI had an amazing experience at this Japanese restaurant in Brookline! The atmosphere was incredibly authentic, especially the tatami seating area, it felt like stepping into a little corner of Japan. The attention to detail in the decor and ambiance was just perfect. The curry was rich, flavorful, and comforting. If you’re looking for a genuine Japanese dining experience with delicious food, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!
December 11 · Léa -Food is very reasonably priced! The gyudon is my go to. The miso ramen is a bit saltier for my liking but the shiyo ramen was not as salty. Great spot for a casual lunch with friends.
January 20 · Jessica Li LOVE their tonkatsu! fried to perfection and so delicious. the vibes are great in the cafe and there are tons of menu options. recommend the cheese gyu don bc it’s seared!
