Mio Sushi on Hawthorne

3962 SE Hawthorne Blvd E, Portland, OR 97214, USA

4.0
Mio Sushi is a weird vibe to walk into. It's definitely a chain, but it's really cluttered like it's someone's small family biz.I went in and it was slow, with only 2 other tables present. I was served really quickly. I ordered the yakitori and two rolls. The food is pretty bad, unfortunately. I had the shrimp tempura roll and a roll with eel in it (can't remember exact name). The eel was slimy and both rolls were covered in a "sweet sauce" which was maybe what was making all of it taste kind of "funky."I never received the yakitori, which was fine, because by the time I was done with the rolls, I wasn't really eager to stick around based on how bad the sushi was. This was my second time in, with my first one being a few years ago. I was hoping that the quality had improved but it has not.Portland has a bunch of great sushi places all over the city, so it's wild to me that there are places that can stay open when the quality of their sushi doesn't even match what you can get at the grocery store. With Fred Meyer being only a couple blocks away, I'd rather get sushi there than return to Mio. - Lee
