When considering where to eat Japanese food in Tulsa, many local residents prioritize a combination of quality ingredients, satisfying portions, and a welcoming atmosphere. Understanding how Nori Japan aligns with these expectations, based on shared public feedback, can help determine if it's the right choice for your next meal. We’ll explore its location, the services it advertises, and key features, always grounding our information in factual observations and customer insights.
Nori Japan is conveniently located within the Woodland Hills Mall, a prominent shopping destination in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its specific address is:
7021 S Memorial Dr, Tulsa, OK 74133, USA
Being situated in a major mall like Woodland Hills Mall offers a significant advantage in terms of accessibility. The mall is a well-known landmark in Tulsa, easily reachable from various parts of the city via South Memorial Drive, a key commercial artery. For local users, this means ample parking is generally available within the mall's parking lots, reducing the hassle often associated with finding a spot in busier standalone restaurant locations. The food court setting also provides a casual and quick dining option, ideal for those who are shopping or simply looking for a convenient meal during their day out. Its location makes it a straightforward option for a quick bite rather than a sit-down, formal dining experience, aligning with the typical offerings of mall-based eateries.
Based on typical mall food court operations, Nori Japan would primarily offer quick-service Japanese-inspired meals. While specific menu items are not detailed in the provided information, the nature of the reviews suggests a focus on prepared dishes, likely including:
- Cooked Entrees: Dishes featuring beef and shrimp appear to be part of their offerings, often served with rice. The mention of a "grill" implies items cooked to order or freshly prepared.
- Sushi/Tempura Options: The mention of "shrimp tempura" indicates that fried items are available, commonly found in Japanese fast-casual settings. While not explicitly detailed, it's plausible they also offer simple sushi rolls typical of mall food courts.
- Take-Out Service: Given the setting, the primary service model is likely geared towards take-out, with food prepared for consumption on-site in the food court seating area or to be taken away. Customer feedback mentioning "to-go paper plate" and "container" reinforces this.
It's important to note that the provided customer feedback highlights concerns regarding portion sizes, specifically a small portion of beef compared to a large amount of rice, and the presentation of food in open containers. There were also mentions of hygiene concerns regarding a rice cooker on the floor, which is a point of consideration for potential diners.
When evaluating Nori Japan based on customer feedback, several points emerge:
- Convenient Mall Location: Its placement within Woodland Hills Mall makes it a highly accessible option for shoppers and those in the surrounding areas of Tulsa looking for a quick meal. This convenience is a primary feature for food court establishments.
- Variety of Asian Food Options Nearby: As noted by a reviewer, there are "2 other asian food places" just steps away within the same mall. This provides alternatives for diners who might be exploring different Japanese or Asian culinary choices in the immediate vicinity.
However, it is also important to address the significant concerns raised by customer reviews, which should be considered when assessing the overall features of this establishment:
- Reported Customer Service Issues: Multiple reviews mention "terrible customer service," describing interactions as "ridiculously rude and dismissive." There were also accusations of potential bias in service, with one customer claiming they were "skipped over" to help another family and that the staff was "a tad bit racist" if you aren’t Hispanic.
- Portion Size Discrepancies: Customers reported receiving "tiny portions sizes" of protein (e.g., "7 pieces of shrimp and maybe a palm full of beef") contrasted with large quantities of rice, leading to dissatisfaction with the value for money.
- Hygiene Concerns: A specific concern was raised about a "rice cooker on the floor," which was perceived as "unhygienic," along with observations of an open container being prepared.
- Food Quality Complaints: The taste of the food, particularly the rice, was described as "worse I've ever had and smelt and tasted weird." The overall food quality was stated to be as poor as the service.
- Inconsistent Food Presentation: Issues with how food was served, such as receiving shrimp tempura on a "to-go paper plate" and containers not being properly closed, were highlighted as problematic.

Nori Japan Reviews
I wish I could give them no stars. The gentleman at the register was ridiculously rude and dismissive. The young lady on her grill seemed new and over it all which I can understand. However, the portion of beef I was given was small while my plate was loaded with rice. The rice cooker was on the floor and the rice was the worse I've ever had and smelt and tasted weird. (they also have the rice cooker on the floor, isn't that unhygienic) I stood in disbelief at the portion of beef in comparison to the rice thrown into the container just for the young lady to place the OPEN container on the counter. My friend asked if they don't close containers and present them to the customers here and she grew annoyed and proceeded to make a very feeble attempt to close the container with the same spatula she's using on the grill. To add fire to the fuel, I was given my shrimp tempura on a to-go paper plate! -__- Well I never!!!! I almost forgot it from the shock of watching her prepare my meal and when I turned to ask about it, another server pointed to it while actively speaking over my food. I have never, ever, in my life received such poor service and for food to taste just as bad as the service. NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Apr 20, 2024 · A JIf I could give no stars I would. From terrible customer service to tiny portions sizes there is nothing good about this place. They are rude and a tad bit racist if you aren’t hispanic (they skipped over me to help a hispanic family that was clearly behind me and once the guy finally help me he rushed through my order and was being dismissive throughout). Plus I paid $12 for 7 pieces of shrimp and maybe a palm full of beef. If you are going to eat at the mall just pick another place there are 2 other asian food places that have decent customer service and food just steps away from this disaster.
Jul 16, 2024 · Donny RobinsMy wife and I went and ate. We ordered the #5 steak and shrimp and ordered extra meat. We watched as the cooks put our meat on the grill (no others were ordering). The chicken cook then said something to the steak cook and then separated our extra meat we had ordered. The steak cook then accidentally place some of our meat on the guys plate who came a few minutes after us. The chicken cook then gets on to him, watches him continue and then tries to tell us our order was ready. I let him know that our extra meat went to the wrong order. He played like he could not understand. I repeated myself and he shrugged me off. No more business for them. The food was awesome but doing right is not with the chicken cook.
Apr 07, 2024 · Keith LongLove the chicken teriyaki. The fried rice is good. It’s more of a waiting time than the other Asian places, but they cook in front of you so that’s cool.
