I had a great time here at Shinpi and they were very accommodating seeing as I arrived an hour early to my reservation. The fish were fresh and paired well with what Chef Lin prepared from the toppings to the sauces. And the GOLD dust was everything and literally everywhere! 🤩 The setting was aesthetically pleasing, small and quiet so great to catch up with friends or as date night for couples. Would definitely wanna come back.

We walked into Shinpi around 9:15pm and they sat us in the middle of the bar. It feels like a private chefs table.Dare I say this was within my top 3 omakase’s I’ve had in the city. The attention to detail combined with the THICK cuts of fish— absolutely the thickest I’ve ever received. Every course was delicious down to the double skim dessert. The chef was engaging and even let us try some of his special sake. Will definitely be recommending this to my fellow omakase enthusiasts.

I would eat arsenic if the chef here prepared it. Because it would be delicious. If you’re not even sure you like raw fish? This place will show you how delicious they can be. EVERYTHING was impeccable. We came on a Thursday night, there was only one other couple there with us. The music was soft relaxing classical music. The only server besides the chef recommended a delicious dry bottle of sake when we asked. And then every single output from the one chef behind the 10 seater bar(and that’s the only seating options) churned out all the offerings. If you can afford, I would recommend the 18 course offerings over the other option. Get as much as you can and leave feeling satisfied but not stuffed. This place should be full every single night.

Seats were spaced appropriately so it had a nice and comfortable arrangement!Now let's talk about the Omakase selection:We unfortunately did not think that the quality matched its price tag. We opted for the most expensive selection and the total bill was 430 after tips for two people without any drinks. The appetizer selection was subpar unfortunately, especially the ones that incorporated the sea urchin. I love uni and have had many different types and differing freshness. However, the uni that accompanied the appetizer was not fresh since it left a bitter and not sweet aftertaste. The individual selection of fishes were mostly fresh, but nothing that left a "WOW" factor. Although the special grade uni was delicious, it was only available for two pieces with the rest of them just mediocre.The whole experience was fun and the gold glitter spray was definitely entertaining, gimmicky, and Instagram worthy; the chefs were sweet and the birthday celebrations were exciting and enhanced the dining experience as well, which was great! However, I do have high hopes for Shinpi Omakase because I know with some minor modifications, they can definitely elevate the quality of their selection to better match the price point they are aiming for. Overall the highlight was just the two special uni pieces and one wagyu piece out of the total 17-18 that stood out.
