Sake and Beverage Pairings: To complement the exquisite sushi, Sushi by Bou offers a selection of sake and other beverages. Reviewers specifically mention sake pairings that enhance the flavors of the sushi, suggesting a thoughtfully curated drink menu designed to elevate the meal.
"Big Mac" Signature Bite: A standout feature, as noted by a customer, is their "Big Mac," a unique and decadent combination of wagyu, uni (sea urchin), and scallop. This signature bite exemplifies the innovative and luxurious elements often found in their omakase.
Reservations Recommended/Required: Given the intimate size and high demand for an omakase experience, it is highly likely that reservations are strongly recommended or even required. This ensures a personalized experience and manages the flow of guests.
Sushi by Bou - Chelsea NYC offers several distinctive features that make it a standout destination for sushi lovers in New York.
Authentic Omakase Experience: At its core, Sushi by Bou provides a genuine omakase journey. This chef-led dining style ensures the freshest, most seasonal ingredients are used, and each piece is crafted with precision and artistry. It’s a dynamic and engaging way to enjoy sushi, providing a unique culinary narrative with every course.

It's a departure from traditional restaurant settings, making the visit memorable.
Exceptional Staff and Service: Customers consistently praise the staff, specifically mentioning "awesome staff" and "friendly staff." The interaction with the chef at the bar is highlighted as a fun and engaging aspect of the experience, indicating a strong focus on hospitality and customer engagement.
High-Quality, Fresh Fish: As expected from a top-tier sushi establishment, the quality of the fish is paramount. Reviewers describe the omakase as "fresh and fun," with particular praise for individual pieces like the miso cod and the components of the "Big Mac," all pointing to the superior quality of their ingredients.

Given the nature of an omakase-focused restaurant like Sushi by Bou - Chelsea NYC, promotions might differ from those of a more traditional à la carte sushi restaurant. The primary "special offer" often inherent in omakase is the curated experience itself, providing a set number of high-quality courses for a fixed price, which can represent excellent value for the caliber of food and service.
However, it's always advisable for New Yorkers to check for any current or seasonal promotions directly with Sushi by Bou. Potential special offers could include:
Weekday Lunch Omakase: Some omakase establishments offer slightly shorter or specially priced omakase menus during weekday lunch hours, making it more accessible for a midday indulgence.
Sake Pairing Deals: There might be special pricing on their expertly curated sake pairings when added to the omakase experience.
Seasonal Menus: While not a discount, the changing seasonal menus are a form of special offering, ensuring fresh and unique ingredients are featured throughout the year.
Limited-Time Special Courses: Occasionally, chefs might introduce a unique, limited-time course as part of the omakase to highlight a particularly rare or in-season ingredient.
Referral Programs or Loyalty Rewards: For returning customers, some high-end establishments might have unadvertised loyalty incentives or referral benefits.

This was my first omakase experience and it was incredible! My group had a great time, great atmosphere, awesome staff (shoutout to IMAX!), and super affordable compared to other cities I’ve seen with 12-courses for only $65. I’m still daydreaming about the miso cod…Next time I’m in NYC, I’ll def be back! Highly recommend.
May 09, 2025 · Amanda CharalambousCame here after the Joy of Sake event and had a delightful meal. The space really does a evoke a speakeasy with sneaky entrance, its intimate quarters, and friendly staff. The omakase we had was fresh and fun, some classic peices but also some unique new takes. Sitting at the bar and getting to chat with the Chef was fun. Did a sake pairing to go with it that was very tasty. Finished with their 'Big Mac' which was a wonderful combo of wagyu, uni, and scallop. An awesome bite. All around a good sushi experience.
Apr 13, 2025 · Alexander KontoleonThis place can be a little cramped, but it still worked for us with one person in a power wheelchair. We were seated at the high top counter in the back for the omakase experience. The food was outstanding, and Jack told us what each piece was, taking preferences and allergies into account. Imax(spelling??) was funny, warm, and welcoming as a host, checking in on us throughout the experience. We loved it and wish we’d had time to come back before leaving NYC. Absolutely recommend to anyone!
May 30, 2025 · Lauren ReaneyGreat experience! I've been to other sushi by bou locations and love that every one of them is slightly different. This place was more like a Speakeasy. The coffee shop in front was "closed." The lights were off, and the door had a lock on it. But it wasn't actually closed. You come in, and in the back, there was someone to confirm your reservation. Very small and intimate space inside. The sushi was wonderful. I like the contemporary take on each course. The chimichurri and chili oil ones were surprising to me. The traditional takes on sushi is great, but the occasional contemporary take is great too.
Jan 01, 2025 · sharonIt was a great time here for omakase. Our sushi chef was Brian, he was interactive and fun. Brian and Imax made it such a fun experience, I would definitely come back the next time I’m in New York!
