Sushi Sho Rexley Introduce
Nestled in the heart of St. Petersburg, Florida, at 214 2nd St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, USA, lies **Sushi Sho Rexley**, a Japanese restaurant that positions itself as an exclusive and intimate culinary destination. With a distinct focus on the traditional omakase experience, it aims to transport diners on a sensory journey through meticulously prepared sushi and other Japanese delicacies. The restaurant's reputation is significantly elevated by its recent recognition, having been awarded a highly coveted Michelin star, a testament to its commitment to culinary excellence.
Considering the platform category "Doctor Near Me," Sushi Sho Rexley can be viewed as a specialized practitioner in "culinary therapy" or "gastronomic precision." Just as one seeks a highly qualified doctor for a specific and complex medical need, Sushi Sho Rexley caters to a discerning clientele seeking an elevated, precise, and bespoke dining experience. The "master sushi chef, Rexley," who "prepares every course by hand right before your eyes," embodies the meticulous attention to detail and personalized approach one expects from a top medical professional. The emphasis on "fresh seafood is flown in regularly ensuring you are eating a world class meal every time you dine" aligns with the concept of using the finest, freshest "ingredients" for optimal "patient" (diner) well-being and satisfaction. The brother Arte, described as "the embodiment of hospitality" who will "keep your glasses full and make you feel right at home," mirrors the comforting and attentive bedside manner that enhances a healing process. While a conflicting review points to a perceived lack of quality and high price, the general narrative, particularly with the Michelin star, suggests that for a specific "ailment" – the desire for a world-class, intimate Japanese culinary journey – Sushi Sho Rexley is presented as a leading "specialist near me" in the culinary field, promising a corrective and enriching experience.
The **environment** at Sushi Sho Rexley is defined by its exclusivity and intimacy. With "only 10 seats," it is explicitly described as "definitely one of the most intimate restaurants in St Pete." This limited seating capacity fosters a highly personalized and focused dining atmosphere, allowing each guest to feel directly engaged with the culinary process. The setup allows for a direct, immersive experience where "Rexley, the master sushi chef, prepares every course by hand right before your eyes." This "open kitchen" concept, inherent in omakase, transforms dining into a performance art, where the sights, sounds, and smells of food preparation become part of the overall ambiance. The description of the room descending "into perfect silence as each guest suddenly becomes enraptured by the tastes and textures" highlights the profound sensory engagement and focus that this intimate setting encourages. It's an environment designed not for casual chatter, but for deep appreciation of the craft and the flavors, creating a unique and memorable setting for a truly special occasion.
The **services** at Sushi Sho Rexley are highly personalized and attentive, stemming directly from its intimate setting and dedicated staff. The presence of Master Sushi Chef Rexley, preparing each course by hand for a small group, ensures direct interaction and a bespoke culinary journey. His brother, Arte, is lauded as "the embodiment of hospitality," dedicated to making guests "feel right at home" and ensuring their comfort by keeping "glasses full." This level of personal attention and warmth is a hallmark of fine dining and a critical component of the omakase experience, where the chef guides the meal. This personalized service extends to the very core of the dining philosophy: a chef-driven menu where guests entrust their meal to the expertise of the masters. However, it is imperative to note the conflicting review which describes the omakase experience as "the most less qualified" they "ever experienced." This reviewer stated, "Their sakes were good and the host did a good job serving our drinks," which partially aligns with Arte's role, but overall, this individual found "nothing impressed us" and would "not recommend this place with the price $196 for Signature Omakase. Not worth it." This indicates that while the intent for exceptional service and a guided experience is present, there can be varying perceptions of its execution and value for money.
The **features** of Sushi Sho Rexley's culinary offerings are the cornerstone of its high-end proposition. The core feature is the **omakase experience**, a chef-selected, multi-course meal that promises a dynamic and evolving menu. This experience is described as a "true feast of the senses," where diners witness "Rexley slice perfect sheets of sashimi" and smell "the A5 Wagyu searing." The restaurant prides itself on using **"fresh seafood flown in regularly,"** ensuring "a world class meal every time." This commitment to premium, seasonal ingredients is paramount for an omakase establishment. The menu is noted for "always manag to keep the menu changing with the ebb and flow of the seasons and the oceans," providing a fresh and unique experience with each visit. The selection of "sakes were good" according to one review, complementing the food. The ultimate accolade for its culinary features is the **"well deserved Michelin star"** it has received, signifying exceptional cooking, quality ingredients, and a distinct personality. However, the negative review provides a stark contrast, stating the "fish was not fresh at all" and sauces were "so salty especially the one goes with abalone and mushroom." This review also mentioned the chirashi bowl "only included 4 types of the typical fish. The quality was poor and the presentation was worse." While this might refer to a specific experience or a miscommunication, it directly challenges the general perception of high quality. The **purple sweet potato with matcha ice-cream** was ironically noted as "probably the best dish" by the dissatisfied reviewer, suggesting that even in a less-than-ideal experience, some elements still impress.
Regarding **promotional information**, the most powerful asset for Sushi Sho Rexley is its prestigious **Michelin star**. This globally recognized award serves as an immediate and significant promotional tool, signaling excellence and attracting discerning diners. The consistent positive reviews, describing a "feast of the senses" and "world class meal," act as strong word-of-mouth promotion, particularly emphasizing the intimate 10-seat setting and the personalized service from Rexley and Arte. The long-standing patronage ("eating here since for 7 years now") speaks to customer loyalty and consistent quality over time, which is invaluable. The emphasis on "fresh seafood flown in regularly" is a key selling point that assures potential diners of the quality of ingredients. While the nearly $200 price point for the Signature Omakase might deter some, for those seeking a high-end, exclusive experience, this pricing aligns with the Michelin-starred caliber. The restaurant's phone numbers, **(727) 835-8478** and **+1 727-835-8478**, are readily available for booking the highly sought-after 10 seats, reinforcing its exclusive nature. Despite one very critical review, the overall narrative, especially amplified by the Michelin recognition, promotes Sushi Sho Rexley as a premier destination for an exceptional and intimate Japanese culinary journey in St. Petersburg.
In conclusion, Sushi Sho Rexley presents itself as a distinguished Japanese restaurant in St. Petersburg, Florida, renowned for its intimate, 10-seat omakase experience and recent Michelin star. It promises a sensory journey guided by Master Sushi Chef Rexley and the warm hospitality of his brother Arte, featuring exceptionally fresh, flown-in seafood and a continually evolving seasonal menu. While a single highly critical review regarding freshness and value provides a contrasting perspective, the prevailing sentiment and official accolades position Sushi Sho Rexley as a pinnacle of fine dining, offering a unique and exclusive "culinary treatment" for those seeking a world-class Japanese meal.

Sushi Sho Rexley Reviews
This is probably the most less qualified omakase I ever experienced. The fish was not fresh at all. Their sauce was so salty especially the one goes with abalone and mushroom. There was nothing impressed us. The purple sweet potato with matcha ice-cream at the end probably was the best dish. Their sakes were good and the host did a good job serving our drinks. Overall, I don’t think I would recommend this place with the price $196 for Signature Omakase. Not worth it.

Apr 24, 2025 · Matthew Barnes FaulhaberThis was certainly an experience. The service was incredible from the waiter. The chef was a bit offputting. He seemed to pay a lot of attention to the four people directly in front of him even when we would try and ask questions and be a part of the conversation.I treated my mom to a special evening here and the omakase experience was lovely. For a few I didn’t love, but I was absolutely astonished by more than I anticipated. I would certainly try again for a special occasion as the fish was fresh and the waiter was kind enough to help answer our questions!
