TOKUYAMATCHA & ONIGIRAZU BAR Reviews
The creamy matcha is kind of life changing. SO good. I truly believe it’s the best matcha order. The beef and ginger sandwich is a real star. It’s amazing. I wish the filling went a bit further to the edges so that you don’t end on large bites of rice but, it’s amazing overall.Great gluten free friendly option! There’s a small table outside but don’t count on getting seating on a weekend.
Mar 10, 2025 · Cassia ALoved it! The onigirazu are like onigiri sandwiches and the selection is very extensive with lots of vegan options. They have both traditional/typical matcha drinks and unconventional tea drinks. I got:Veggie tofu nugget miso mayo onigirazu: Made vegan with the option to sub vegan miso and mayo. I loved the textures (the tofu nuggets were tender like chicken nuggets) and the umami flavours. It was served fresh and warm and held together surprisingly well as I was eating. It didn't look very big, but it was dense and more filling than it looked.HojiGen latte: Hojicha and genmaicha is such a good combination. The latte was pretty strong and the flavour was very pleasant. It seemed like good tea. They also did a good job with the texturization of the oat milk. The space is very cramped with standing room for only a few people. I was glad I checked the menu before visiting because I felt like I had to order and clear out as fast as possible - not because of anything the staff did though! The staff were very polite! Outside, there's one table and a few benches on the sidewalk if you want to eat there. You wait for your order outside and they call out your number through a speaker when it's ready. There were a few people who had ordered ahead of me, so it was a bit of a wait. I think it took around 5 minutes for the drink, and then another 10 minutes for the onigirazu. This was around 12:30 on a weekday.
Mar 21, 2025 · Dana SullivanHad this place on my list for a while and totally lived up to the hype. The ramen onigirazu was absolutely delicious and savory. The perfect meal for a nice day out. The candied sweet potatoes are also a fantastic side snack. Loved it so much I went back the next day to try a new onigirazu and loved that one as well. It is a small space with limited seating outside but it is right around the corner from Tompkins Square Park. Will definitely be returning to keep trying the different onigirazu options.
Mar 23, 2025 · Kaylee DeFreFinally got to try this food spot I’ve been waiting for! We ordered the chicken onigirazu & veggie/tofu onigirazu & an iced oat matcha latte (ceremonial matcha). Everything was delicious—we loved it!There was a line, but it moved quickly. The server was super nice and friendly. Definitely planning to revisit!
Mar 19, 2025 · Nurana DunyamaliyevaVery yummy food but very very long wait time. Limited seating outside and indoor is tiny with barely enough room to stand. You have to stand outside while waiting for your food and it’s difficult to hear the person calling order numbers from inside. Would probably be a good experience during a slow time of day but would not recommend going if you see a line of any kind.
