Tsumo UWS Reviews
Beautiful place! The decorations are simply and elegant. The Tsumo sign inside the front entrance is beautiful. Our chef served 7 of us at the table and gave descriptions of each piece of sushi as he presented them. They were all yummy (except the scallop was a bit too spicy, I think there was some pepper and extra wasabi). Each serving had a ton of fish which was awesome! My favorites were the unagi and o toro and chu toro. I love how you get such a variety of seafood (and even some wagyu at the end). The chef even accommodated for my friend who couldn’t eat shrimp, nice of them to ask that beforehand!I also ordered the first drink on the menu (can’t remember name) which was delicious. They do keep it moving pretty quick and stick to the 75 minute schedule. I’m sure that’s one reason why it is so affordable. For this price point I can’t think of any other omakase place that beats the quality of Tsumo.Fun fact - Tsumo is the phrase used when you win a round of mahjong by drawing the right tile you need.
Apr 03, 2025 · Oliver YangMy wife and I did the 13 course experience ti prepare for our upcoming Japan trip. Fish was all super fresh and thought out. The O toro and Unagj were my favorite. I appreciated the chef’s attention to detail and he explained each piece he set down. Hospitality staff were very attentive in addition. Would for sure go back. Lastly, the Yuzu sake OMG!!!!!!
Mar 15, 2025 · Justin ThomasDefinitely gonna be coming back - amazing price for an omakase in manhattan, with great vibes and service to boot. With the incense and clean wooden interior, I felt like I was at a spa. Staff was super warm and the guy who served us (I think his name was Steve?) made the experience really lovely despite my friend coming a bit late (got the UWS and was downtown locations confused haha). Food was delicious and I was happy dancing the whole time :)
Jan 05, 2025 · Janice HahnEnjoyed this experience more than I did my dining experience at the original location. May have to do with them being a new location and having something to prove; but if they keep their service and portions consistent, I'd definitely continue to come back, and recommend that others do as well. I brought a friend who was new to the omakase concept and they really loved the experience.
Dec 29, 2024 · Deb LA delicious, affordable but still high quality omakase spot on the upper west side! We did the 13 course set menu and they have a promo this first month for a complimentary wagyu scallop truffle sushi. Delicious and so rich. We definitely will be back here in the future!
