In the heart of Hacienda Heights, Akasaka Restaurant stands out as a true "hidden gem," a place where the art of sushi is celebrated with remarkable freshness, generous portions, and impeccable service. This article invites locals in California, particularly those in the San Gabriel Valley, to explore what makes Akasaka Restaurant a cherished destination for authentic and high-quality Japanese fare.
Akasaka Restaurant has earned a stellar reputation, transcending the typical sushi experience. Customers, even those well-traveled in the sushi world, consistently declare that "nothing compares to this experience." This is a testament to the restaurant's unwavering commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The atmosphere is described as "cozy and inviting," making it "the perfect spot for a relaxing meal," while the service is lauded as "excellent, friendly and attentive."
The true star, however, is the food. Diners rave about the freshness, with comments like "incredibly fresh—sometimes fresh, mostly super fresh," and the "melt-in-your-mouth tender" fish. The portions are consistently highlighted as "very generous," offering "great value for the price." Signature items, such as their "exceptional" chirashi bowls, "tuna and scallop" sashimi, and "on another level of deliciousness" soft shell crab, receive enthusiastic praise. One reviewer encapsulated the overall sentiment by saying, "A solid 5-star experience! I’ve already recommended this place to many friends and hope they continue to thrive!" This passionate endorsement from loyal patrons solidifies Akasaka Restaurant's position as a must-visit in Hacienda Heights.

This means that while the dedicated parking lot might fill up during peak hours, visitors can typically find nearby parking, allowing for a relatively stress-free arrival. For those planning to visit during popular times, such as dinner service or weekends, it's advisable to "make a reservation during peak hours, as it can get busy." Its presence in Hacienda Heights' dining landscape makes it a recognizable and highly recommended choice for anyone seeking top-tier sushi in the region.

These bowls are noted for their "impressive variety of fish" and "huge portions," often enough for multiple meals. They typically include a fried shrimp head, monkfish liver, raw sweet shrimp, eel, poke mix, seaweed salad, octopus salad, salmon roe, and various large slices of fish.
Specialty Rolls & Cooked Items: Beyond traditional offerings, Akasaka features a selection of "amazing specialty dishes" and rolls, such as the "soft shell crab" which is lauded as "on another level of deliciousness—unlike anywhere else!" Other specialty rolls like the "rainbow roll" are also highly rated for their freshness and flavor. They also offer excellent value lunch options like Beef Teriyaki.

Akasaka Restaurant’s stellar reputation in Hacienda Heights is built upon several distinctive features that consistently impress its loyal clientele:
Unparalleled Freshness and Quality of Fish: This is the most frequently praised aspect, with customers emphasizing the "incredibly fresh" sashimi and the overall "outstanding" quality of all seafood. The melt-in-your-mouth texture of the fish and the vibrant colors contribute significantly to the dining experience.
Generous Portions and Exceptional Value: Diners consistently highlight the "very generous" or "huge portions" provided, particularly with the sashimi platter and their famous chirashi bowls. This generosity, combined with high quality, offers "great value for the price," making it a compelling choice for those seeking a satisfying meal without compromising on excellence.
Artistic Presentation: The dishes are not just delicious but also "beautifully presented." This attention to visual detail elevates the dining experience, making each plate a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.
Signature Chirashi Bowl: Their Chirashi Bowl is a true showstopper, described as an "absolutely exceptional" and "artistic presentation" of various fresh fish. It’s so substantial that one customer reported it took "3 meals to finish it" by themselves, highlighting its immense value and deliciousness.
Unique Specialty Items: Beyond the classics, unique offerings like their "soft shell crab" are lauded as being "on another level of deliciousness—unlike anywhere else!" This indicates a creative menu that goes beyond the standard sushi fare.
Excellent, Friendly, and Attentive Service: The staff at Akasaka consistently receives high marks for their "excellent, friendly and attentive" service. This personal touch contributes significantly to the cozy atmosphere and makes diners feel welcomed and well-cared for.
Appealing to First-Time Sushi Eaters: A strong testament to their quality is that even a customer's mother, who had "never eaten sushi before, genuinely enjoyed everything we ordered." This speaks volumes about the approachable and universally appealing nature of their cuisine.
Akasaka Restaurant is celebrated more for its consistent high quality and generous portions rather than frequent, explicit promotions. However, the inherent value they provide is a significant draw for customers.
Great Value Lunch Menu: Customers specifically highlight the "excellent value" of their lunch menu, mentioning options like "Beef Teriyaki, Sashimi and Salad & Rice." These options are noted for their "generous portions" (e.g., "at least 8 pieces of beef teriyaki and thick cut sashimi") and efficient service, making it ideal for a quick yet satisfying midday meal.
Chirashi Bowl Value: While not a promotional discount, the Chirashi Bowl itself is considered an "incredible value for the amount of food you get." Its substantial size often means it can serve as multiple meals, which is a significant cost-saver for diners.
Consistent Pricing for Quality: The restaurant maintains a reputation for providing high quality and generous servings at a fair price, which acts as a continuous draw for repeat business from locals who appreciate consistent value.

Akasaka Restaurant Reviews
I’ve tried sushi at countless places, including well-known spots in San Diego, and nothing compares to this experience. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive and the food was simply outstanding. I had a specialty roll, a rainbow roll, and the sashimi platter, all of which were incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The portions were very generous too. What really stood out was that my mother, who had never eaten sushi before, genuinely enjoyed everything we ordered. That says a lot! I’ll definitely be coming back to try one of the amazing specialty dishes I saw being prepared for other customers. Highly recommend this place to any sushi lover!
April 26 · SoCal-FISHING-760Akasaka Sushi in City of Industry is a hidden gem tucked away in an unassuming corner! The sashimi is incredibly fresh—sometimes fresh, mostly super fresh—and the portions are generous, offering great value for the price. I highly recommend the tuna and scallop, and their soft shell crab is on another level of deliciousness—unlike anywhere else! It’s best to make a reservation during peak hours, as it can get busy. Parking is limited, but street parking is available. I’ve already recommended this place to many friends and hope they continue to thrive! A solid 5-star experience!
March 03 · Sonia ZI’ve been going to Akasaka for over 20 years, and they’ve always had great business. The prices are reasonable for the portions they serve.I usually get the sashimi or sushi combo—the fish is super fresh, and the pieces are big and thick. This time, I tried the Chirashi bowl ($49.99), and OMG, I loved the variety of fish! But the portion was so huge I couldn’t finish it. Definitely recommend sharing this one. Their dinner combos are also amazing, and each set comes with their popular fried chicken. The restaurant is small but cozy. I’d give their service a solid 8/10.
December 24 · Janet ChangI’ve been to the Japan this summer. Now this restaurant pull me back to there again. Very high quality sashimi and Tempura. It’s real deal Japanese restaurant. I like the taste. Clean and fresh!
September 08 · Rosen SiiiAkasaka Sushi is a hidden gem tucked quietly in a residential hub mixed with some industrial businesses with pride of ownership! The sushi is fresh, nicely prepared, and never disappoints. For almost 25 years, Akasaka has been one of my personal favorite restaurants. Thank you, Sushi Chefs and the staff. Must try, easy access, off the 60 freeway 7th Ave exit to Gale to Clark Ave.
