Akita Ramen Sushi & Izakaya Reviews
We’ve been in Clarksville for nine months, but until last night, I hadn’t found a local sushi place that truly piqued my interest. I was born and raised in Japan, so I have very high standards when it comes to Japanese food—but this place exceeded my expectations. We ordered the tuna tataki, Wagyu sushi with shrimp, a simple salmon maki, and the Sapporo ramen. Everything was perfect. The fish was incredibly fresh, with no iron-like aftertaste, and the flavors were well-balanced. The interior was also beautifully designed, giving the feel of a high-end restaurant.Although they’re still waiting on their liquor license since they just opened, we’re already excited to go back. Plus, they played J-pop, which was a nice touch! This is easily the best Japanese food we’ve had in the area!
Mar 10, 2025 · Rui Morito✅️ Vegetarian appetizers, vegetarian sushi!!!!!! Im so impressed by the Vegetarian sushi. It's hands down the best veggie sushi I've had. It's NOT just lettuce and cucumber like a few other places I have been to in town. There's some actual effort and artistry in this thing. It was delicious and had varied ingredients. I think it's the best vegetarian sushi I've tasted in Clarksville. I could have written about the other things we ordered, but this seemed the most important 😆
Mar 24, 2025 · sophia (linktr.ee/seisenbart)These guys a doing a really great job as a new restaurant!!! No lag from the kitchen or anything! A short wait for a table even on a busy Friday night. We got the shrimp appetizer, pink lady roll, lava roll and each got a different ramen. My husband got the spicy and I got the tonkotsu. The crepe cake was very interesting! Will probably be back.
Mar 22, 2025 · Kylie💰 Price Range: $$ (Mid-range)⭐ Overall Rating: 3 / 5 – Good, but with some misses👀 First Impressions- Ambiance & Decor: Very fancy! They clearly put effort into the design—modern yet cozy, with great lighting and stylish finishes. Perfect for a date night or small group dinner.- Seating & Comfort: The chairs and booths were surprisingly comfy, and the spacing between tables was decent.- Noise Level: We arrived around 6:30PM, and it was pleasantly busy—conversations were lively but not overwhelming. The background music volume was just right.🍜 Food & Drinks🍽 Dishes We Tried:1. Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen ($15) – Rich, creamy prok-broth with tender pork belly. Noodles had the perfect chew. ✔️ A must-order!2. Gyuniku Ramen ($16) – Creamy pork-based broth, rich with tender marinated beef. Noodles had a perfect chew. ✔️ A must-order!3. Gyu Hire Yakitori ($9) – Unfortunately, this was undercooked and lacked seasoning. Needed more flavoring and marinade. ❌ Skip this.4. Wagyu Samurai Sushi ($22) – Absolute highlight! Melt-in-your-mouth wagyu with a delicious sear, the crunchy shrimp tempura with the fried scallions! Worth the splurge. ✔️ A must-order!5. Fried Calamari ($10) – Crispy but tiny portion for the price. Felt more like an sample. ❌ Skip this🍷 Beverages:- Sweet Tea ($3.25) – A bit bland. Would’ve helped if they provided sugar packets for adjustment.🤵♀️ Service- Staff: Our waitress, Madi, was super sweet and attentive. She checked on us regularly and kept the vibe friendly. However, she struggled with menu knowledge (couldn’t explain/know some dishes or ingredients). Better training would help!- Wait Time: No complaints here! Food arrived quickly, and drinks were refilled promptly.💸 Value for Money- Worth It: Both ramens and Wagyu Samurai sushi justified their prices with quality and taste.- Not Worth It: Fried calamari (too skimpy) and yakitori (undercooked).- Sweet Tea needs a flavor boost for $3.25.👍👎 Highlights & Lowlights✔ What We Loved:- Amazing Wagyu Samurai and Gyuniku & Tonkotsu Ramen.- Fancy Restaurant—great for Instagram or a nice night out.- Friendly, quick service.❌ What Needs Work:- Inconsistent dishes (yakitori was a letdown).- Portion sizes (calamari felt like a snack).- Staff should know the menu better.🏆 Final VerdictWould I return? Yes—but selectively. I’d come back for the ramen and wagyu but skip the smaller dishes.Best for: Date nights, small groups, or if you’re craving high-quality ramen and sushi.📊 Rating Breakdown:- Food:⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (Good, but inconsistency holds it back)- Service: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (Friendly but needs more training)- Ambiance: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (Stylish and inviting)- Value: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (Hit-or-miss depending on the dish)
Mar 26, 2025 · Richard LiI’ve been waiting for Akita to open for months! I was happy to go yesterday. Food is excellent, service is excellent. Ordered a Sapporo, chicken karaage, spicy salmon roll, and Tokyo Tonkotsu ramen. All delicious. Will try the other ramen choices over time.
