Bon Japanese Cuisine Introduce
For Texans in the Bee Cave and greater Austin area, Bon Japanese Cuisine stands as a local option for satisfying Japanese food cravings. This restaurant aims to bring a taste of Japan to the community, focusing on sushi and a variety of other Japanese dishes. While experiences can vary, it has carved out a space in the local dining scene, drawing in customers with its fresh fish and interesting roll creations.
Bon Japanese Cuisine strives to offer a diverse menu that appeals to a wide range of palates. They feature an "extensive specialty roll menu," alongside fresh sushi and sashimi, and a selection of cooked entrees. The goal is to provide a comprehensive Japanese dining experience, blending traditional elements with a contemporary approach, all within a welcoming and comfortable setting.
Customer feedback indicates that the "food is typically good," with the "fish seeming quite good overall." Diners have found "interesting rolls," though some note that certain options "can be a bit heavy on sauce," advising patrons to "choose carefully." Highlights from the sushi selection include the "Sunset Roll," described as "delicious," featuring salmon, shrimp tempura, crab, and masago. While the "Philly Roll" received a more neutral "just okay" review for its salmon, the generosity of the sushi portions is generally appreciated. The "Edamame with salt" and "Seaweed Salad" are also popular appetizers, though a desire for a spicy edamame option and less dressing on the salad was noted by one reviewer. The restaurant also has a designated room for private events, adding to its versatility.
While the food generally receives positive remarks, some reviews indicate that service can be "truly hit or miss." Patrons have offered constructive criticism regarding staff training in order taking and customer interaction, suggesting a need for more experienced waitstaff. Despite these occasional service nuances, the general sentiment is that Bon Japanese Cuisine is a "good local place" and many customers "will come back again," largely due to the fresh sushi and convenient location.

Bon Japanese Cuisine Reviews
Food: typically good. It can vary a little day to day, but overall the fish seems quite good. Interesting rolls, some can be a bit heavy on sauce, so make sure to choose carefully. They have pictures!Service: truly hit or miss. Often a miss. Last night our waiter took drinks and appetizer order, but I guess didn't write down the appetizer. When asked when our main meal came out, it was a typical teenager response: no apology and some mumbling trying to find the fault elsewhereTo the owner: please train your staff better at taking orders and customer interaction. Also retain some senior wait staff. All in all it's a good local place, just be aware of the teenagers.
May 11, 2025 · HilmarLocated conveniently off the 620 and plenty of parking. Make sure you are parked out front instead of the back where we parked. Oddly, the back has a big lighted sign and looks like the entrance until you walk up to the door and see the sign that says "go around".We were seated right away on a Saturday evening with no reservations. It's a large restaurant and even has a room for private events. Our server came over right away and took our drink/appetizer orders. We started off with the Edamame and Seaweed Salad. The Edamame comes either with salt or truffles; we had the salt but wish they would offer a spicy version like most places do these days. The seaweed salad was a generous portion but was drowning in the dressing. Great dressing but just too much. For the sushi, we tried a few pieces of Tuna and Yellow Tail. The portions were very good and the fish was quite fresh. For rolls, we had a Philly Roll and a Sunset Roll. The Philly Roll was just okay; very little Salmon and the salmon wasn't great. It wasn't bad fish, but it was just "okay". For the Sunset Roll - salmon, shrimp tempura, crab and masago. This was a delicious roll! The service was good but a few things that were a bit unusual. We had to ask for soy sauce and when the server brought it out, he poured it but wouldn't leave the the container with us. The place certainly wasn't so busy they couldn't afford to let us have our own and pour as we felt rather than having to ask our server each time we wanted some soy sauce. Very odd.Overall, the service is good and the sushi is pretty fresh. I'm sure we will come back again.
Dec 10, 2023 · JamesALWAYS absolutely fantastic. I have not had a roll I didn’t like from them. Super high quality and service is always kind and efficient!
Jan 08, 2025 · Caitlyn HurstI had an extremely frustrating visit to Bon Japanese Cuisine. Their all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi promise was a complete letdown. My kids and I waited over an hour, only to receive gyoza and miso soup. The service was painfully slow, leaving us hungry and dissatisfied. We left and will not be returning. This was the worst dining experience in the area, and I caution others looking for a reliable AYCE sushi spot.
Apr 18, 2025 · Ryan SmithThe sushi here is very good, especially the uni and toro nigiri - each bite was fresh and melted in my mouth, showcasing the quality of the ingredients. The udon was another highlight, with a flavorful broth and perfectly tender noodles that complemented the sushi experience. The restaurant’s interior is tastefully designed, combining modern elements with a cozy, inviting ambiance that enhances the overall dining experience.Whether you’re here for a quick meal or a leisurely dinner, the atmosphere and food work together to create something truly special.
