For those in Mountain View, California, seeking a diverse and authentic Japanese culinary experience, **KakaRoto Japanese Restaurant** presents itself as a local option. Located at 743 W Dana St, Mountain View, CA 94041, KakaRoto Japanese Restaurant provides a range of Japanese dishes that position it as a local service provider within the "Doctor Near Me" platform category. For inquiries or reservations, the restaurant can be reached at (650) 903-9668 or via mobile at +1 650-903-9668.
KakaRoto Japanese Restaurant aims to provide a welcoming and satisfying dining experience, and its **environment** is a key aspect of its appeal. One reviewer described the interior as "cozy," appreciating the "layout and the atmosphere." This suggests a comfortable and inviting setting, which can enhance the enjoyment of a meal. The absence of a wait time during a visit, even during rain, indicates that the restaurant might offer a relaxed pace, contributing to a pleasant experience for diners looking to avoid long queues. A comfortable and well-designed space can significantly impact the overall perception of a restaurant, fostering a sense of warmth and relaxation for patrons.
In terms of **features** and culinary offerings, KakaRoto Japanese Restaurant stands out for its **varied menu**. One customer was particularly impressed by the "choices on the menu are various and there were even items I've not seen on any other menus so I'll definitely some back to try new things!" This highlights the restaurant's commitment to offering a diverse selection, potentially including unique or less common Japanese dishes alongside more traditional favorites. Such variety appeals to adventurous eaters and those looking to explore beyond typical sushi and ramen offerings. Furthermore, the food itself is described as "delicious," with "portions were good" and "prices were very reasonable." This combination of taste, generous serving sizes, and affordability makes KakaRoto Japanese Restaurant an attractive option for value-conscious diners who do not wish to compromise on quality.
The **services** at KakaRoto Japanese Restaurant have received mixed feedback. On the positive side, one customer explicitly mentioned "very nice waiters who checked in on us and were very helpful." This suggests that, for the most part, the staff is attentive and provides good customer care, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. This level of attentiveness ensures that diners feel well-looked after and that their needs are met during their visit. The general friendliness of the staff, as noted in one review, is a significant asset that can foster a welcoming atmosphere and encourage repeat visits, as exemplified by the customer who declared, "I'll be definitely back in 2025 :)" for New Year's.
However, a starkly contrasting experience was reported by another customer, leading to a "low score review for that ONE extremely rude waiter." This individual described an unsettling incident where a waiter was "slamming the food onto our table multiple times" and "talked to us in a rude manner," which was particularly distressing as it seemed to be an isolated incident, with the same waiter conversing "to other tables with polite tone." This led the customer to feel "not welcomed and discriminated here for no reason," prompting them to "not recommend trying your luck here." While this appears to be an isolated incident involving a single staff member, it highlights a potential inconsistency in service quality that prospective diners should be aware of. It underscores the importance of consistent staff training and management oversight to ensure all patrons receive a positive and respectful experience.
Regarding **promotional information**, the provided reviews do not detail specific, time-limited promotions or discount programs. Instead, the restaurant's value proposition seems to be inherent in its everyday offerings. The consistent feedback on "very reasonable prices" and "good portions" effectively serves as a continuous promotion, attracting diners who prioritize affordability alongside quality and quantity. The mention of "items I've not seen on any other menus" also acts as a unique selling point, drawing in customers eager to explore novel Japanese dishes. The positive personal interactions with generally "nice waiters" and the overall "cozy inside" environment further contribute to a positive impression that encourages repeat business, acting as a form of organic promotion. The intention to "definitely some back to try new things" also indicates a built-in desire for exploration that the varied menu effectively leverages as an ongoing draw for customers.
In summary, KakaRoto Japanese Restaurant in Mountain View offers a Japanese dining experience characterized by a cozy atmosphere, a diverse menu with unique items, reasonable prices, and good portion sizes. While many customers experience pleasant and helpful service, there has been an unfortunate, isolated incident of highly unprofessional conduct from a single waiter, which is an important consideration for potential patrons. For local users seeking a Japanese restaurant via a "Doctor Near Me" platform, KakaRoto presents an appealing option for its culinary variety and value, but awareness of the mixed service reviews is advisable.

Visited the restaurant for the first time yesterday during the rain. There was no wait time and it was so cozy inside! I loved the layout and the atmosphere. The choices on the menu are various and there were even items I've not seen on any other menus so I'll definitely some back to try new things! The prices were very reasonable and the portions were good, while the food itself was delicious. Also, very nice waiters who checked in on us a were very helpful.Happy New Years, I'll be definitely back in 2025 :)
Dec 27, 2024 · Elena BThis low score review is for that ONE extremely rude waiter. To be clear, the food was decent, the other waiters were friendly. It was our first time visiting the restaurant, but that one waiter was extremely, like slamming the food onto our table multiple times, so it could not be an accident. In addition, the waiter talked to us in a rude manner. What’s more ridiculous is that the waiter talked to other tables with polite tone. I don’t know what’s the issue here given that it’s only our first time visiting here. We feel not welcomed and discriminated here for no reason. I don’t recommend trying your luck here.
May 24, 2025 · D.The food and services are amazing! We ordered Makimono Combo, Super Philadelphia Roll, and the Flying Dragon Roll. All are super delicious and they even offer us free heart chocolate! It was my birthday dinner and I love it! I will definitely come back again!
Feb 18, 2024 · Gilda TamAt first, I really like the restaurant and the food so I made a reservation for the party of 8 people on one weekend lunch after trying myself one day during the week. Everything came out good and fast but only thing really upset me was that the waiter didn’t notify me that there was already 18 % service fee added to my check. Not knowing this, I added another 15% tip. I felt kinda scammed cause when I paid with my credit card, he took away the original check and only gave me the credit card transaction paper with the final price that has blank tip section where I had to sign. And I only found out at home because I asked for the original check since I wanted to double check the price for each menu cause there were 8 items. After reviewing the check at home, I realized that there was already tip added to the check and the waiter didn’t circle it or didn’t tell me. So I called the restaurant and complained that no one notified me about the service charge that was added to the food price and tax and requested the second tip refund as the tip has been paid double. Fortunately, I got the second tip back but think about it, if I didn’t find out myself, basically I have paid over 30 % tip. So watch out guys! The waiter is not being honest!!!
May 03, 2025 · Happy CamperFriends recommended this for Japanese food. They ordered a bento with mackerel, salmon and pork katsu and a seafood sukiyaki. We ordered a few sushi rolls: Godzilla roll, Flying Dragon and Spider roll. We shared a bottle of sake and had an ice cream for dessert. The food was tasty, we were surprised with the fried sushi. The textures were nice. Service was efficient and nice.
