Krispy Rice operates as a unique culinary concept, gaining attention for its specialty items. It's an intriguing spot that has garnered a mixed bag of feedback, yet continues to be a point of discussion among local foodies. This article aims to provide a clear and engaging overview of Krispy Rice, helping Californians understand what to expect from this Hollywood sushi destination. We'll delve into its offerings, location, and what makes it a noteworthy option for those craving sushi with a twist.

This address places it within a bustling part of Los Angeles, offering excellent accessibility. Being on Hollywood Boulevard means it's well-connected by public transportation, including metro lines and bus routes, which is a significant advantage in a city known for its traffic. For those driving, finding parking in Hollywood can sometimes be a challenge, but given its proximity to various entertainment venues and businesses, there may be paid parking lots or street parking options nearby. It's always advisable to check current parking availability or consider ride-sharing services for the most hassle-free experience. Its central location also makes it a convenient stop for those working or living in the surrounding Hollywood, West Hollywood, and central Los Angeles neighborhoods.
Krispy Rice specializes in a focused menu designed to highlight its unique take on sushi, particularly its signature crispy rice. While it functions primarily as a ghost kitchen within Katsuya, its offerings are available for customers seeking a distinct sushi experience.
- Specialized Sushi Offerings: The menu heavily features various "Krispy Rice" items, which involve grilled sushi rice topped with different ingredients. Popular options include the Original Spicy Tuna Krispy Rice, Truffle Avocado Krispy Rice, Salmon & Yuzu Krispy Rice, and Spicy Hamachi & Wasabi Krispy Rice. These are often served in two-piece portions.
- Hand Rolls: A selection of hand rolls is available, such as The Original Baked Crab Handroll, Krispy Shrimp Handroll, and The Original Spicy Tuna Handroll, typically served in two-piece servings.
- Cut Maki Rolls: Traditional-style cut rolls are also on the menu, including the California Roll, Spicy Tuna & Avocado Roll, and Salmon & Yuzu Roll.
- Appetizers: Complementary appetizers like Edamame, Krispy Chicken Gyoza, and Krispy Fried Shrimp are offered to round out the meal.

Krispy Rice presents several features that set it apart, especially for those looking for something beyond traditional sushi rolls.
- The "Crispy Rice" Concept: This is undoubtedly the main draw. The restaurant's name directly reflects its signature dish – sushi rice that has been grilled or fried to achieve a crispy texture, providing a unique contrast to the soft fish and toppings. This offers a different mouthfeel compared to conventional sushi, appealing to those who enjoy varied textures in their food.
- Unique Flavor Combinations: Krispy Rice often pairs its crispy rice with a variety of toppings, from classic spicy tuna to more gourmet options like truffle avocado or salmon with yuzu. This allows for diverse flavor profiles within a consistent textural experience.
- Convenient Location (within Katsuya): While operating as a ghost kitchen, its association with Katsuya Hollywood provides a certain level of culinary credibility and infrastructure. This setup means that while it's primarily for delivery or pick-up, it benefits from an established kitchen environment.
- Catering to Modern Dining Habits: By focusing heavily on delivery, Krispy Rice aligns with the growing demand for convenient, high-quality meal options that can be enjoyed in various settings. This model is particularly suited for the busy lifestyle of many Californians.
While specific, ongoing promotions can vary and are often platform-dependent, Krispy Rice frequently offers various meal sets and combo boxes that provide value for customers. These curated selections allow diners to sample a range of their signature items, often at a more attractive price than ordering individual pieces. Examples of such offers seen on delivery platforms include:
- "The Box" Combos: These often include a mix of spicy tuna crispy rice, baked crab handrolls, various cut rolls (like California and Salmon & Yuzu), and edamame.
- "Just Krispy" Sets: Designed for crispy rice enthusiasts, these sets feature multiple pieces of different crispy rice varieties, sometimes paired with fried shrimp.
- Handroll Sets: Combinations of various handrolls, providing a convenient way to try different fillings.
- Platform-Specific Deals: Customers should check popular food delivery apps (like Uber Eats, DoorDash, Postmates, Grubhub) as Krispy Rice often participates in platform-specific promotions, such as discounts on first orders, percentage off total orders over a certain amount, or "buy one get one free" deals on specific items. These offers are dynamic and change regularly.

Krispy Rice Reviews
Disappointing. First of all there was nothing crispy about this Krispy Box. All of the tempura and crispy rice inside was soggy and gone to mush. Is it maybe dangerous to expect crispy tempura through delivery... But that is literally the delivery restaurant's name. Not only was the crispy tuna not, the tuna was really dried out. The spicy tuna and salmon were both mushy and full of dressing. And in the California roll the avocado was brown. One single sachet soy sauce and no container to pour it into.
Nov 05, 2023 · Marsha MAmidst the whispered secrets of Hollywood's culinary underworld lies a clandestine haunt within Katsuya—a ghost kitchen shrouded in mystery. Here, the once bespoke Krispy Rice Sushi Box emerges, devoid of its former glory, stripped of custom packaging. Yet, despite its cold demeanor, each bite retains a crispy defiance, a testament to resilience amidst anonymity.
Mar 27, 2024 · Alanna YouI ordered this on Postmates, and it came in plastic restaurant go containers ,not an actual issue, but vs the presentation on app and previous times I’ve ordered this was wild. However I have actual fish allergies and they don’t allow for allergy subs on the app, no problem, I ordered shrimp, tuna, crab and himachi. Zero shrimp came, 4/6 pieces of what looks like a Philly roll arrived containing Salmon, that I AM allergic to and now I’m not comfortable eating anything that arrived, because of a complete lack of attention to the order. This is wildly disappointing for a $75 order.
Sep 23, 2024 · Brittany CThis is a ghost kitchen which means it's only available on delivery apps. We've ordered Krispy Rice a handful of times over the past few years and it's gotten objectively worse. I'm not snooty about sushi, but our order this evening was the worst sushi I've ever had. The rice had a gray tint, the "crispy" tuna was soggy, and the cucumber tasted like it was on its last leg. I wouldn't have purchased this quality of sushi again even if it was half the price. It tasted like it was days old.Even the edamame was bad -- they didn't salt the exterior! And as a cherry on top, we had a large order (7 rolls) and received 1 pair of chopsticks, one packet of soy sauce, and a tiny portion of wasabi.Krispy Rice, do better!
Nov 04, 2023 · Molly SchmidtI was visiting my daughter and son-in-law this weekend and he ordered Krispy Rice for dinner. It took over an hour to be delivered (which we were upset about but were willing to wait) BUT we did not get everything that was ordered. We ordered 3 bento boxes and everything came in ala cart boxes and not one dipping sauce was included AND the tempura that was ordered was missing. We called to complain and went round and round with the customer service rep who claimed to understand what we were upset about - but of course he didn't. He claimed to call the restaurant and advised he could not reach anyone - he then advised us that we needed to call the restaurant?! He gave us a phone number to call and it is for another restaurant and you can only leave a message?! To top it off there is no way to contact anyone on the website - no where can you find a "contact us" link. It is very upsetting to spend money to order something and there is no way to contact ANYONE to make this right. The restaurant got his money but we did not get what we paid for!
