Mokkoji Shabu Shabu Reviews
Mokkoji is one of my local go-tos for shabu shabu (hot pot). I mainly dine in for lunch, and it's always been an enjoyable and delicious experience. It's hardly crowded, and the staff has been kind and attentive. I appreciate the simplicity of the meal, which features fresh ingredients and a variety of broths and high-quality meat options. This isn't an AYCE place, but the sizes available are perfect depending on how hungry I am. There’s bar style seating as well as normal tables for groups. On my recent visits, I've opted for the two-combination option. So I can enjoy two types of proteins in one sitting. For a lower-sodium and healthier meal, I'll order the original broth. I've also enjoyed the sukiyaki (sweet and flavorful) broth, accompanied by an optional raw egg dipping sauce. My current favorite meats are the pork belly, flat iron, and toro (fatty belly). I hope to splurge on the more expensive cuts in the future. The meats can also come marinated or unmarinated. Halfway through a meal, I like to spice things up with a drop or two of the hot drops in the dipping sauces. There are plenty of options on the menu, and you can choose how you want the broth and meats prepared. Every visit to Mokkoji can be unique, yet still familiar, with something new to order. A great place for vegetarians, too!The prices are a bit high, but in today's world, it's worth treating oneself occasionally. I'm looking forward to the next visit!
May 30, 2025 · Phil CThe presentation of the meats are really good but they go super heavy in the garlic and butter, maybe I need to try it without it. The customer service was lacking. During my meal I asked for a second bowl so I can create my noodle soup, the young waitress there told me to use my rice bowl, I told her I still had rice left in it along with other bits of food lol wtf. She finally gave it to me when she came to her senses. You guys gotta work on your customer service.
May 02, 2025 · Bryan NInteresting first visit. We came here on a Thursday so it was a bit dead of a morning/lunch time. The menu was a little overwhelming when first looked at it from someone who had shabu shabu but as everyone store have different types and how their system works. The waitress was trying to explain but i think it was still quite confusing after she explained twice still slightly. Not that friendly of a new comer transition, but after a bit of q and a between me and her, i finally begun to understand how the shabu part worked under their menu.they have regular and combo (which you can combine 2 kind of meat, and they charge by the highest price - obviously)their spicy pork broth was amazing, would recommend getting it again. my friend got the sukiyaki one which was slightly sweeter of a broth - but since they offer pre-marinated meat with their house sauce (that is a bit similar) it makes it slightly more confusing to have that as broth.i enjoyed the iron steak as well as the lamb both were delicious and there was unlimited refill of vegetables.I would definitely come back again for shabu, but slightly elevated price (as you can go to AYCE shabu for similar price) but overall experience was great.there is shared parking with the plaza, due to ventilation they need the door open - came on a cold winter day, so having the door open did affect my comfortability consider there was nobody there that day and it was cold already with breezy wind, hoped that they can have internal vent so it isn't at the cost of comfort, for that + the price i can't give it a 5/5 since it did ruin a bit of the ambiance and got me distracted majority of the meal.
Mar 10, 2025 · Jenny ChuangWe got the mokkoji beef set and a side of prime rib, which came with 2 bowls of rice, 2 sets of veggies/udon noodles, and we selected a broth for each of the 3 of us.Everything was delicious and we devoured it all! Great value for $25 per person!
Nov 25, 2023 · Michael KimSolid local Shabu Shabu! Meat was high qualityfresh, service was polite and patient, atmosphere was modern and new. Could have been a little cleaner, but I'm not mad. I suggest 5 drops of the spice if you want any spiciness in your soup (couldn't taste it with 3). We had original broth, miso, spicy original, and spicy (sweet). All were excellent. Zero issues with food quality.
