Noma Sushi Introduce
For those in San Mateo and the surrounding areas seeking a reliable and satisfying Japanese dining experience, Noma Sushi presents itself as a compelling option. While the platform category "Doctor Near Me" primarily focuses on healthcare services, its underlying principle often involves connecting users with essential local services and businesses that cater to their immediate needs, comfort, and well-being. In this broader context, finding a good restaurant for a healthy and enjoyable meal can certainly contribute to one's overall well-being, making Noma Sushi a relevant discovery for users exploring local amenities through such a platform.
Located at 152 South Blvd, San Mateo, CA 94402, USA, Noma Sushi has established itself as a go-to spot for both casual diners and Japanese food enthusiasts. The restaurant can be reached at (650) 393-4651 or +1 650-393-4651, providing convenient access for reservations or inquiries. The address itself is easily accessible, making it a practical choice for those living or working in San Mateo.
Upon entering Noma Sushi, diners will find an environment that is described as a "small spot" and "nondescript," yet consistently welcoming. This suggests a focus on substance over elaborate decor, creating a comfortable and unpretentious atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where the emphasis is firmly on the food and the dining experience itself, rather than a flashy setting. Despite its smaller size, the restaurant is noted for being "family friendly," indicating an atmosphere suitable for diners of all ages. This casual and unpretentious environment makes Noma Sushi an accessible choice for a quick lunch, a relaxed dinner, or a meal out with loved ones. While specific details about interior design are limited, the overall impression is one of a clean, functional, and inviting space where diners can feel at ease.
The service at Noma Sushi consistently receives high praise from customers, standing out as a significant highlight of the dining experience. Reviews frequently describe the service as "excellent" and "great," even during peak hours when the restaurant becomes "packed." The staff is commended for being attentive and proactive, with customers noting instances of staff "kept asking if we needed anything," and "refilling our waters." This level of attentiveness ensures that diners feel well-cared for throughout their meal. Furthermore, the provision of a "complementary dessert" speaks volumes about the restaurant's commitment to customer satisfaction and appreciation. While one review did mention needing to "flag the staff a couple of times to get their attention," this appears to be an isolated comment amidst overwhelming positive feedback, with the staff still described as "friendly." This consistent dedication to service fosters a positive and enjoyable dining experience, encouraging repeat visits.
Noma Sushi's features are primarily centered around its food, which is consistently described as "good to great," with some dishes "shining more than others." The restaurant prides itself on offering "reasonable prices" and "ample portions," providing excellent value for money. This combination of quality and affordability makes it an attractive option, especially for those looking for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. A standout feature mentioned by customers is the chicken karaage, lauded for being "tender and juicy" and served with the sauce on the side, allowing diners to control the flavor. The teriyaki chicken also receives similar praise for its tenderness, juiciness, and the thoughtful presentation of the sauce on the side. Portions for both chicken dishes are noted as "pretty large." For sushi enthusiasts, the "Noma special roll" is a popular choice, and even a standard California roll is commended for its "good filling to rice ratio" and taste. Other highly recommended items include the "hamachi kama," "shrimp tempura" (both described as "hot and flavorful"), and the "sake don" with a "good amount of salmon." The "chutoro sashimi" is highlighted for being "thick, fatty, and buttery," appealing to connoisseurs of high-quality raw fish. The option to have teriyaki sauce on the side for the beef teriyaki bento further exemplifies the restaurant's attention to detail and customer preference. The culinary offerings at Noma Sushi showcase a commitment to fresh ingredients, flavorful preparations, and generous servings, making it a reliable choice for diverse palates.
Regarding promotional information, while the provided text does not explicitly detail current promotions, the consistent positive feedback from customers serves as a strong form of organic promotion. The mention of a "complementary dessert" for diners hints at an ongoing practice of providing added value, which itself acts as a form of goodwill and encourages repeat business. The overall sentiment of customers who "definitely go back if I'm in the area again" or "will go back when in the area" speaks volumes about the restaurant's ability to create loyal patrons. In the context of a platform like "Doctor Near Me," which aims to provide comprehensive local resources, highlighting a restaurant known for its good food, excellent service, and reasonable prices effectively promotes it as a desirable local amenity. The convenience of their phone numbers, (650) 393-4651 and +1 650-393-4651, also serves as a direct call to action for potential diners.
Parking at Noma Sushi is described as "limited," but "street parking" is also available, though it might require some searching. One customer humorously noted that "a lot of people tend to like to take up 2 parking spots, or at least they did that night," suggesting that finding a spot might sometimes require patience. However, another review contradicts this by stating there's "plenty of parking space in front," which could indicate variability depending on the time of day or specific parking availability. It is advisable for potential diners to factor parking into their plans, especially during peak hours. Despite any potential parking challenges, the overall consensus is that the quality of the food and service makes Noma Sushi well worth the effort.
In summary, Noma Sushi offers a delightful Japanese dining experience in San Mateo. Its strengths lie in its consistently good food, featuring generous portions and a focus on flavor, particularly with dishes like the chicken karaage, teriyaki chicken, and a variety of fresh sushi and sashimi options. The excellent and attentive service, even during busy periods, significantly enhances the dining experience, making customers feel valued. The family-friendly and unpretentious environment contributes to a relaxed atmosphere. While parking might require a little flexibility, the overall value provided through reasonable prices and ample servings makes Noma Sushi a highly recommended spot for local residents and visitors alike. For users of a "Doctor Near Me" category, Noma Sushi represents a valuable local resource for a satisfying and health-conscious meal, contributing to a holistic sense of well-being within the community.

Noma Sushi Reviews
Food was good to great, with some shinning more than others. I especially liked the chicken karrage and the teriyaki chicken having the sauce on the side, plus they were tender and juicy. Portions for both the chicken dishes were pretty large I'd say. I liked their Noma special roll and although a California rolls isn't my go to, I'd say the filling to rice ratio was really good and it tasted good too.Small spot but the service is excellent, family friendly, and good food. Price is about what you'd expect not being too high or low, and had a really good time. Also want to reiterate that the service was great even when it started getting packed. Kept asking if we needed anything, refilling our waters, and even gave a complementary dessert. I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area again.Limited parking but there's also street parking if you can snag a spot. I'd say a lot of people tend to like to take up 2 parking spots, or at least they did that night...
March 03 · Stephen PhamSmall, nondescript, no frills sushi spot in San Mateo where the prices are reasonable and the portions are ample. The chicken karaage, hamachi kama, and shrimp tempura came out hot and flavorful. The sake don had a good amount of salmon And the chutoro sashimi was thick, fatty, and buttery. I also like that they have the teriyaki sauce on the side for the beef teriyaki bento. We had to flag the staff a couple of times to get their attention but they were friendly. There's also plenty of parking space in front. Will go back when in the area.
February 02 · Jay FrankeraTried Noma Sushi again, and it was pretty underwhelming. The service was just okay—our waitress seemed new and took some extra time to write things down. She was nice enough, but overall, the service wasn’t great. The food was disappointing. The miso soup was awful—bland and had a weird bleach-like taste, possibly from the bowl. Sushi was mediocre; just fish, nothing memorable. The only upside was the portion size—you do get decent chunks of fish. The oysters were just okay, not super fresh or delicate, with a bit of chew to them. The ambiance is your standard small sushi spot, nothing special. When we arrived, they told us to sit at the bar. We asked if there was a table available, and instead of a clear answer, they just pointed at a table where some guy was already sitting… super awkward.Prices were average to slightly above, which wouldn’t be a problem if the food quality matched. I’ve been here before and don’t remember it being this bad, but after this visit, I won’t be coming back.
March 09 · Janine NguyenCan’t go wrong with the Simpsons. Sushi and Simpsons on the TV, can it get any better than that? Asked for a recommendation and loved what I had. Something new and delicious. Place is low key and tucked away. Hard to stumble across it except online. Will be coming back next time I’m in the area.
November 11 · Aaron HixsonTucked away in an unassuming corner, this hole-in-the-wall gem impresses with its spotless interior and beautiful wood decor. The service is excellent, and the sake menu is diverse. The easy-to-understand menu itself featured standout dishes like tender, juicy short ribs, fresh sashimi, and spicy, thick sushi with a perfect kick. The tataki was also tender and juicy. The cool, comfortable ambiance made for a great dining experience. Definitely left feeling full and satisfied. Highly recommend!
