Its "little tucked away" location, next to a tobacconist with stairs leading to the entry, only adds to its charm as a discovery. Sushi 35 West Reviews
I loved Sushi 35 West. It was one of my favorite places and I will definitely revisit with the hope that this was a one-off experience, and not the new norm. However, yesterday, I got their Sushi Premium and spicy scallop roll and was disappointed. I went around 6pm, so perhaps I got the end of the day dregs...but I'd say about 4 out of 10 of the pieces in my Premium were not as fresh or tasty as past visits...the quality and freshness always blew me away on past occasions. For me, Sushi 35 West has always been about a no frills atmosphere and high quality sushi. I've been there at least half a dozen times without ever being disappointed. But the quality of the fish, while still superior to most sushi places, has gone down markedly if my visit yesterday is an indicator...the akami, salmon, uni and chutoro were especially disappointing. Not awful, mind you, but not the sort of thing that would make me insist others venture there (which I once had). Overall, it was very good, but not great.
Apr 18, 2025 · Carla BriscoeThe sashimi was fresh and silky. Good value for the amount of fresh sashimi served. This is a little tucked away "blink and you'll miss it" kind of place, with the stairs to the entry located next to a tobacconist. Some tables are set out on the stairwell, which is perfectly fine not fancy. I found the service friendly and fast.
Apr 29, 2025 · Maria K.A true NYC hole-in-the-wall gem—one of those "if you know, you know" spots. Great bang-for-your-buck sushi, with fresh quality at a solid price. The Sushi Combo never disappoints
Apr 03, 2025 · Marie ULove this literal hole in the wall! There are some seats however the majority is pick up.Great lunch prices for fresh quality sushi.
May 24, 2025 · Shirley ZDefinitely a hidden gem, this place is located up some stairs inside a vape shop and very easy to miss walking by. It’s also largely take out though it does have a few tables for two set up in the space for those that want to eat there. But for no frills sushi, this place is the excellent! Reasonably priced and always very fresh and high quality, it’s definitely one of my go tos in the neighborhood.
