Sushi A Go Go

6333 W 3rd St #404, Los Angeles, CA 90036, USA

3.0
Here’s what $43 worth of sushi at Sushi A Go Go looks like. Grossly overcharged for two mediocre rolls! ($25 for ONE Dragon Roll & $18 for ONE Spicy Tuna Roll.)For reference, I did not order the edamame. I’m guessing it was “complimentary” to jazz up the over priced sushi. The edamame was mushy, and four out of the six pieces were browning. Just look at the photo. Why’d I eat it. The Dragon roll fell apart as I picked it up. Save yourself. Also, learned a valuable lesson to not order off a menu that has zero information on prices! Please don’t make the same mistake.PS. Near criminal. (Their website has the Dragon Roll listed for $18 & the Spicy Tuna for $12.) I guess order online, and don’t order in person on a Monday at 1:30pm. - Briana W.

Sushi A Go Go Introduce

For Californians navigating the diverse and often fast-paced culinary landscape of Los Angeles, finding a sushi spot that balances convenience with quality can be an interesting journey. Sushi A Go Go, located at 6333 W 3rd St #404, Los Angeles, CA 90036, USA, presents itself as a readily accessible option. This establishment seems to offer a mixed bag of experiences, providing both pleasant surprises for some and unexpected challenges for others, particularly concerning its pricing transparency.

Sushi A Go Go has garnered feedback that paints a varied picture. Some patrons have lauded the food as "so tasty," specifically recommending the Poke bowl and praising the owner for creating a "one of a kind" experience. This suggests a personal touch and dishes that can truly impress. However, other customers have expressed significant concerns about pricing, noting instances of feeling "grossly overcharged" for rolls whose in-person prices differed drastically from online listings. Issues with food quality, such as "mushy" edamame and rolls that "fell apart," have also been reported in specific instances. It's clear that while the owner's personal service and certain menu items can be highlights, potential diners should exercise caution regarding pricing and perhaps opt for online ordering where prices are explicitly listed. This duality highlights that Sushi A Go Go might be a place where the experience varies, but for those who connect with its unique offerings and pricing structure, it can be a convenient and flavorful stop on W 3rd Street.

Location and Accessibility

Sushi A Go Go is strategically located at 6333 W 3rd St #404, Los Angeles, CA 90036, USA. This address places it within a bustling and well-known area of Los Angeles, making it quite accessible for Californians, especially those in the central LA region. The "Suite #404" suggests it might be part of a larger complex, potentially within the famous Original Farmers Market or a connected retail space, which is a popular destination in itself.

West 3rd Street is a major thoroughfare connecting various neighborhoods like Beverly Grove, Fairfax, and the Miracle Mile. This makes Sushi A Go Go easily reachable by car or ride-sharing services from numerous parts of the city. Its proximity to the Original Farmers Market means it benefits from high foot traffic and is a convenient stop for those already in the area for shopping or other activities.

When it comes to parking in this area of Los Angeles, it can sometimes be a challenge. However, being part of a larger complex or market often means there are dedicated parking structures or lots, albeit typically paid. For example, the Original Farmers Market usually has its own parking facilities. Street parking with meters is also an option on W 3rd Street. While direct parking details were not provided in the reviews, its location in a popular commercial hub generally implies various parking possibilities, enhancing its overall accessibility for locals and visitors alike seeking a quick sushi bite.

Services Offered

Sushi A Go Go offers a range of services designed to provide a convenient and diverse sushi experience, with a focus on both in-person and off-premise dining.

  • In-Person Ordering and Pick-up: The restaurant allows for walk-in orders, as indicated by a customer's experience ordering "in person on a Monday at 1:30 pm." This suggests a casual, counter-style or quick-service model where customers can place their order and pick it up directly.

  • Dine-In (Limited): While not explicitly detailed as a full-service dine-in establishment, the ability to order in person implies a space where customers might wait or have limited seating to consume their food. Given the "Go Go" in the name, it's likely more geared towards quick turnaround.

  • Online Ordering: The reference to a website with listed prices ("Their website has the Dragon Roll listed for $18 & the Spicy Tuna for $12") indicates that Sushi A Go Go supports online ordering. This is a crucial service for modern convenience, allowing customers to view the full menu with transparent pricing and place orders remotely for pickup or delivery.

  • Delivery Services: Sushi A Go Go appears to be available on popular third-party delivery platforms like Mercato, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. This significantly expands its reach, allowing Angelenos to have sushi delivered directly to their homes or offices.

  • Variety of Sushi Rolls: The menu includes popular rolls such as the Dragon Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll, and other specialty rolls like Rainbow Roll, Spider Roll, Alaskan Roll, and Crunchy Dragon Roll, catering to a range of tastes.

  • Poke Bowls: A highlight for some customers, the Poke Bowl is offered, suggesting a fresh and customizable option for those seeking something beyond traditional rolls.

  • Appetizers and Sides: The menu also features standard Japanese appetizers like Edamame and Miso Soup, as well as Tempura items, Seaweed Salad, and various Nigiri and Sashimi options.

  • Beverages: They offer a selection of beverages including Japanese Green Tea, Calpico Soda, and bottled water.

The emphasis appears to be on providing a diverse menu quickly and accessibly, though potential customers should be aware of possible pricing discrepancies between in-person and online orders if not consulting a menu beforehand.

Features / Highlights

Sushi A Go Go offers a few distinct features and highlights, though some come with important considerations based on customer feedback.

  • Convenient Location: Situated within the Original Farmers Market area on W 3rd Street, the restaurant benefits from high foot traffic and a central Los Angeles location, making it easily accessible for a quick bite.

  • Delicious Poke Bowl: One reviewer specifically praised the "so tasty" Poke bowl, highlighting it as a strong menu item and a pleasant surprise for those who try it. This suggests a fresh and flavorful option for non-sushi roll enthusiasts.

  • Engaging Owner/Staff: The feedback "The owner makes your experience one of a kind" points to a potentially very personable and attentive ownership or management presence that can elevate the customer experience, creating a unique and welcoming atmosphere for some.

  • Online Ordering Transparency (Crucial): A significant highlight, albeit discovered through negative experience, is that the restaurant's website and likely third-party delivery platforms (like Mercato, DoorDash, Uber Eats) do list prices. This provides much-needed transparency, allowing customers to confirm costs before ordering. For example, Dragon Roll for $18 and Spicy Tuna for $12 are listed online, contrasting with higher in-person charges mentioned by one reviewer.

  • Variety of Menu Items: Beyond specific praised dishes, the full online menus available via third-party delivery services show a wide range of sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, appetizers, and bowls, catering to diverse preferences.

It is crucial for potential customers to be aware of the reported issues with inconsistent pricing and occasional quality control for certain items when ordering in person without a clear menu. The strength lies in its convenience, specific popular dishes, and the owner's personal touch, especially when ordering via transparent online platforms.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the provided customer reviews and available public data from online menus, specific, regularly advertised promotions or special offers for Sushi A Go Go are not explicitly detailed. However, we can infer some potential avenues for value.

  • Online Price Consistency: The most significant "promotion" or value proposition lies in ordering online. The review explicitly states that the "Dragon Roll listed for $18 & the Spicy Tuna for $12" on their website, which contrasts with higher charges experienced during an in-person, unpriced menu order. This indicates that ordering through their website or recognized online platforms (like DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub) is the best way to ensure consistent and transparent pricing, effectively being a more "fair" deal than potentially arbitrary in-person charges.

  • Delivery Platform Deals: As Sushi A Go Go is listed on various food delivery services, they may occasionally participate in platform-specific promotions. These can include discounts on delivery fees, percentage-off offers for first-time users, or bundled meal deals that are advertised directly through the apps (e.g., "Combo Box" at $19.95, or "Sushi Premium" for $25.00 on some menus).

  • "Complimentary" Items (with caution): One review mentioned receiving "complimentary" edamame, though it was described as sub-par. While this might be an occasional gesture, it's not a reliable or advertised promotion and comes with a caveat on quality.

Given the feedback, the primary advice for locals looking for value or predictable pricing at Sushi A Go Go is to:

  • Always check prices online before ordering: Utilize their website or third-party delivery apps to view the full menu with current prices.

  • Look for app-specific discounts: Regularly check DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, or Mercato for any limited-time promotions Sushi A Go Go might be running through those platforms.

While a traditional "promotions" section is lacking based on the provided information, the critical takeaway is that transparent and potentially more favorable pricing is available through their online channels.
