What truly makes Sushi Friend a standout among local Phoenix sushi restaurants?
- Exceptional Food Quality: Customer reviews consistently highlight the freshness and deliciousness of the sushi. Phrases like "The sushi was fresh and tasty" and "Produce spectacular food" are common themes, emphasizing their commitment to high-quality ingredients and preparation.
- "No Frills" and Laid-Back Vibe: A significant highlight, as noted by a reviewer, is the "no frills approach." This means the focus is purely on the food's excellence rather than an overly elaborate dining experience. It offers a "real laid back and to the point" atmosphere, making it a comfortable spot for a casual yet delicious meal.
- Friendly and Attentive Service: The staff, particularly the server (who some believe might be the owner), receives high praise for their "friendliness" and "great attitude." This personal touch contributes significantly to the welcoming atmosphere.
- Diverse Menu Options: Despite its casual nature, Sushi Friend offers a wide range of sushi, sashimi, and specialty rolls, catering to various preferences. From classic California rolls to unique creations like the Aguachile Roll, there's something for everyone.
- Yelp Recognition: Notably, Sushi Friend has been recognized by Yelp as one of the top sushi restaurants in the U.S. for 2023, appearing on their list of the top 10 sushi spots in the country. This national recognition underscores their high standing among customers.
- Convenient Ordering: The availability of online ordering, takeout, and delivery options makes it incredibly convenient for busy Phoenix residents to enjoy high-quality sushi on their own terms.
- Value for Quality: Many customers feel that the prices are fair for the exceptional quality of the sushi and the overall experience.
While specific, ongoing promotional details beyond their regular menu items were not extensively provided, businesses like Sushi Friend often engage in various ways to reward their customers. Based on the available information, here's what can be inferred or is commonly seen:
- Loyalty Program: Their online ordering system mentions "Spend 5 dollars. Earn 1 stamp. Sign in to earn loyalty." This indicates a loyalty program where frequent customers can earn points or rewards, encouraging repeat visits. This is a great benefit for regular patrons who appreciate good sushi.
- Combo Deals: The menu already features various combo options, such as the "2 Roll Combo" and "2 Specialty Roll Combo," which inherently offer a value compared to ordering individual rolls. These combos are a practical "promotion" for customers looking for a satisfying meal at a set price.
- Lunch Specials: While not explicitly detailed as "specials," their website highlights "Satisfying Sushi Lunch Options" including bento boxes, sushi rolls, and sashimi, suggesting tailored offerings for the lunch crowd.
It is always a good idea for locals to check Sushi Friend's official website or social media channels for the most up-to-date information on any seasonal specials, limited-time offers, or additional loyalty program benefits. Given their emphasis on customer satisfaction, it's likely they may introduce new promotions from time to time.

Sushi Friend Reviews
This place keeps popping up on my radar, but I hadn't had the chance to get in. Well, today was the day. We got 3 rolls and some sashimi. All was very good. I actually really appreciate the no frills approach of the restaurant. I like a spot that just does what you came there for. Produce spectacular food. I don't need to eat it off of art with someone asking me every couple of minutes if I need something. There is a place and time for that, but it's very refreshing to eat at a place that feels like you are stopping by your relative's house to drop something off and you get hooked up with something tasty but you don't have to sit around and chit chat all day. Real laid back and to the point.
Apr 27, 2025 · ryan wellsThe sushi was fresh and tasty. Got the Chef’s Plate. Loved the seared salmon roll, the rainbow roll and the tuna serrano roll. Nigiri was great. Ambiance was casual and bright which was perfect for us to randomly stop by. Miso soup, seaweed and cucumbers were perfect sides. But the lasting impression was the friendliness of the server (owner?) and his great attitude. Cool guy and looking forward to coming back many more times.
Apr 19, 2025 · Emanuel BoderashWe stopped by Sushi Friend for lunch, and I’m so glad we did. From start to finish, it was an awesome experience. We were feeling adventurous and decided to try a variety of rolls, and honestly, every single one was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. You could tell the sushi rice was perfectly cooked and that the chefs really know what they’re doing. The sushi chefs were super friendly and even helped us pick out our last couple of rolls, which made the whole experience even better. We ended up trying their seared salmon roll, the Kiro roll, AZ roll, poke roll, and one of their basic rolls. They were all delicious, but the poke roll was definitely my favorite it had such a great balance of texture and flavor. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was helpful, and the food came out beautifully prepared. If you’re looking for a sushi spot that gets it right on all levels, I strongly recommend Sushi Friend. I’ll definitely be coming back!
May 14, 2025 · David MadridThis place lives up to the hype! Delicious rolls with wonderful service. In addition to the rolls, we also ordered the miso soup and ube creme brulee. The Ube Creme Brulee is a must! Wonderful texture and great taste that isn't too sweet. I'm so excited to revisit sushi friend again.
Apr 17, 2025 · Gina GMy husband just got knee surgery so we couldn't go anywhere for my birthday so we wanted to order in but still make it celebratory. First off the ordering online and delivery was flawless and I have no notes. Everything came well packaged and on time. I ordered ahead of time and got a sushi cake! Everything was phenomenal from the rolls to the cake itself and I would highly recommend them. I have told everyone I know about the sushi cake, what a fun idea!
