At first you might think, “How good can Thai food be at a Japanese restaurant? That’s kind of weird.”SEE FOR YOURSELF! You won’t regret it.I couldn’t decide between Japanese or Thai food for dinner… so why not both? 😁 The menu is generous with so many options. The only Japanese item I tried was the Japanese pumpkin rolls: tender little fried chunks of kobocha pumpkin inside sushi rice. They were dense and yummy but the best was yet to come:The best chicken satay and tofu pad see ew I’VE 👏🏻 EVER 👏🏻 HAD 👏🏻.The chicken just melted apart after having been marinated in coconut milk and spices and then grilled. Juicy little pieces of heaven that came with peanut sauce and a delicious cucumber salad that made for a great topping and texture experience. The pad see ew… omg. They got everything right. Hardly salty. Chinese broccoli chopped at an angle for more flavor absorption and tenderness. Leafy greens from the broccoli kept the dish fresh and interesting. One star was barely spicy. The perfectly cooked noodles and fried tofu were carmelized from the high-heat frying. The attention to detail on this pad see ew was Japanese in style even with that traditional Thai taste.I also had the vegetable mango salad rolls, which were good for additional veggies.Only downside was the ambiance/atmosphere. It was pretty minimalist and not very cozy. I liked the artistic banners hanging from the ceiling, though.Anyways, treat yourself to Toma, especially if you love Thai food. The staff were so friendly and sweet, too! - Lauren Hall-Stigerts

Toma Sushi Restaurant and Bar Introduce

Toma Sushi Restaurant and Bar, located at 6512 NE Bothell Way, Kenmore, WA 98028, USA, presents a fascinating and somewhat unexpected culinary experience for local diners. While its name suggests a singular focus on Japanese cuisine, customer reviews reveal a remarkable duality, with a strong emphasis on exceptionally prepared Thai dishes as well. For those in the Kenmore area seeking a diverse and high-quality meal, Toma can be reached at (425) 486-9441 or via mobile at +1 425-486-9441. In the context of a "Doctor Near Me" platform, which implies a search for a reliable and specific local service, Toma Sushi Restaurant and Bar emerges as a noteworthy establishment for those with a craving for either Japanese or Thai flavors, or even a desire to explore both in one sitting.

Environment

The ambiance of Toma Sushi Restaurant and Bar receives mixed feedback, with an emphasis on its minimalist nature. One reviewer describes the atmosphere as "pretty minimalist and not very cozy," suggesting that the decor is not the primary draw for patrons. However, the mention of "artistic banners hanging from the ceiling" indicates an effort to add some visual interest to the space. It appears to be a functional and perhaps understated dining area, where the focus is clearly on the food rather than an elaborate or themed environment. Customers should anticipate a clean and straightforward setting, suitable for a casual meal. It is not presented as a place for a lavish or intimate dining experience, but rather a comfortable enough space to enjoy the culinary offerings. The overall impression is one of a relaxed, unpretentious eatery where the food takes center stage.

Services

Toma Sushi Restaurant and Bar offers a comprehensive menu that seamlessly blends Japanese and Thai culinary traditions, providing a service that caters to a broad spectrum of tastes. The service is characterized by its **friendly and sweet staff**, a detail explicitly praised by customers, which significantly enhances the dining experience. The restaurant provides a generous menu with "so many options," allowing diners to choose from a wide array of dishes from both cuisines. While the reviews highlight specific items like sushi (Japanese pumpkin rolls, Godzilla sushi) and various Thai dishes (chicken satay, pad see ew, vegetable mango salad rolls), the breadth of the menu is a key service feature. The ability to easily combine Japanese and Thai dishes in one meal is a unique selling point, particularly for groups with diverse preferences. Service speed and efficiency are not explicitly detailed, but the positive comments about staff suggest a well-managed and attentive front-of-house operation. The focus is on providing a pleasant and accommodating dining experience, regardless of whether a customer chooses Japanese or Thai fare.

Features

Toma Sushi Restaurant and Bar boasts several compelling features that make it a notable dining destination. Its most striking feature is the **unusual yet highly successful fusion of Japanese and Thai cuisines**. While initially a source of curiosity ("How good can Thai food be at a Japanese restaurant? That’s kind of weird."), customers consistently rave about the quality of both, especially the Thai dishes. This dual culinary mastery sets Toma apart from many other restaurants that typically specialize in only one cuisine. The menu's generosity with "so many options" further emphasizes this versatility, allowing patrons to explore a wide range of flavors.

The **exceptional quality of its Thai food** is a particularly strong feature. Reviews highlight specific dishes like the "best chicken satay and tofu pad see ew I’VE 👏🏻 EVER 👏🏻 HAD 👏🏻." The chicken satay is described as "juicy little pieces of heaven," perfectly marinated and grilled, served with delicious peanut sauce and cucumber salad. The pad see ew receives similar accolades for its perfect balance, fresh ingredients (Chinese broccoli chopped for flavor absorption, leafy greens), and ideal texture from high-heat frying, all exhibiting "attention to detail was Japanese in style even with that traditional Thai taste." This unexpected excellence in Thai cuisine makes Toma a must-visit for Thai food enthusiasts.

Beyond Thai, the **quality of its sushi** is also noted, with the "Godzilla sushi" being described as "amazing. Quite delicious." While one reviewer noted that a single sushi order might not be filling, the taste quality is undeniable, confirming its Japanese offerings are also well-executed. The "Japanese pumpkin rolls" are also highlighted as "dense and yummy," showcasing creativity within their sushi selection.

Finally, the **friendly and sweet staff** contribute significantly to the overall positive experience, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for diners. This level of customer service complements the excellent food, creating a memorable visit. Toma Sushi Restaurant and Bar is truly a "hidden gem" due to its unexpected culinary prowess and welcoming environment.

Promotional Information

Based on the provided customer reviews, Toma Sushi Restaurant and Bar primarily promotes itself through its exceptional food quality and the surprising versatility of its menu, rather than explicit discount or promotional campaigns. The most compelling "promotional" aspect is the **overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth regarding its Thai food**. Phrases like "The best chicken satay and tofu pad see ew I’VE 👏🏻 EVER 👏🏻 HAD 👏🏻" and "You won’t regret it" serve as powerful, organic testimonials that directly entice new customers. This unexpected excellence in Thai cuisine, from a restaurant named for sushi, is a significant draw and a unique selling point that encourages curious diners to experience it for themselves.

The restaurant's status as a "Hidden Gem" and the "Highly recommend trying this place" sentiment from satisfied customers further amplify its promotional reach. These personal endorsements from local users are invaluable in building trust and attracting new patrons. The breadth of the "generous menu with so many options" also acts as a form of promotion, appealing to a wider audience by offering something for various preferences, whether they crave Japanese or Thai. While specific pricing information is mentioned (e.g., $17.95 for Godzilla sushi, $5.50 for Thai iced tea), these figures contribute to the overall perception of value, informing potential customers about the cost of popular items. The emphasis on the friendly staff also acts as a subtle but effective promotional element, ensuring that the dining experience is not just culinarily satisfying but also pleasant and welcoming. In essence, Toma Sushi Restaurant and Bar's reputation for surprisingly delicious fusion cuisine and friendly service are its most effective promotional tools.
